Forestville Bakery — Restaurant in Sydney

Ever since moving here 25+ years ago the bakery still stands as one of the few original stores at Forestville Shops, demonstrating its impressive resilient nature against the changing times through the deemed necessity by the locals by providing every available goods that can be sold at a bakery and some more.

Having said that I have only visited a handful of times to see what it is that is so loved by the ever-changing demographics of this small northern beaches suburb.

My recent visit entailed a pork roll to see how they fair against other Vietnamese banh mi in Sydney, and I was met with disappointment with probably one of the worst pork rolls I had in recent times. Receiving it wrapped in glad wrap did not set off great first impressions, and while the ingredients were skimpy and not as fresh, the loss was the pate being incredibly salty and overpowering every intended flavour becoming almost inedible.

My second time at redemption followed a safer choice in a Hawaiian pizza, coffee and strawberry donut. They offered to heat up the pizza earning some credit for their service, and the coffee was surprisingly adequate with no faults. The pizza itself was decent, however the amount of oil was a bit excessive to make it enjoyable. The donut however held up its reputation, they seemed to have deep fried it just a little bit longer than typical, which provided a slight satisfying crunch complimenting the icing well.

Overall the experience with the food was mid at best. However this should not detract itself from its representation for what it is. Sometimes the local shops just needs that family owned bakery that can provide everything at an affordable price without needing to become the best in Sydney fueled and hyped by social platform fanfare, and that is exactly what it set itself out to do and nothing more and...

This bakery is probably the best place I've gone to in my life. Nothing comes close to the greatness of this bakery. Every time I walk near the store, I nearly levitate off my feet just from the immeasurable aura of this place. If I could dedicate my life to this bakery, I would. In fact, I would go as far as to say this bakery is better than God itself. I would undoubtedly sacrifice my life for this bakery.

Forestville Bakery is the highlight of my day walking into a store with friendly and kind service and a large variety of delicious baked goods, I often take a minute or two deciding between what I must try and what I’m going to get when I come next time but I still end up walking out with 6 cakes everytime. I particularly enjoy when the store is opening at around -0530hrs on a Saturday morning and the donuts are cooked fresh and still warm paired with a hot chocolate and a chat with the lovely staff and young trainees.
