Don't you just adore irony? It's the cute puppy that pees on your lap, of the English language. At Frank's, they exude it by saying "the quintessential New York deli experience, with a touch of European flavour." Um, ok...new York deli is the evolution of East European Jewish immigrants, when trying to also please Italian immigrants, as they flourished in new York city, from the late 1800s to the 1950s. So yes, new York deli is a touch of Europe, just as left wing activists are a touch sensitive (and touch sensitive too I'm sure). The food here is good. It's not new york deli. The portions are too realistic. The prices are about right, but a slice of pickle beside your sandwich in new York, will be the last act of any deli owner. The meatballs are de-light- ful, and the whole product very good. Not the nyc version, which is heavier in all respects (and the pickle, slaw thing). The Reuben thinks it doesn't need Swiss cheese...again, a great sandwich, but not a Reuben, and about a third of the meat of its lower East new York uncle, Katz deli (I pray at its alter each visit). None of this is bad. The food is good, and eats really well. The cheesecake is also excellent...better than most examples in most cities, including nyc. All in all, a good addition to the world of...

Firstly, the Reuben sandwich, featured; a toasted Rye with Pastrami, pickles, sauerkraut and cheddar. The pastrami, sourced from LP’s meats, was soft, fatty, salty and delicious. This was perfectly complimented by the medium strength, robust yet buttery cheddar. The vinegary tastes from the pickles and sauerkraut helped to balance the savoury, creamy tastes. An overall beautiful sandwich.
The Tuna cheese melt featured a lemon peppery tuna with onions pickled in a red wine vinegar. The cheese combo was nice with the tuna, tastes of mozzarella and cheddar, with a slight mustardy tang. This sandwich was quite simple, nice, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The Porto burger was like a Bondi burger on steroids. It featured a milk bun with tender chicken thigh, Peri peri chilli sauce, shredded lettuce and mayo. The burger was almost creamy tasting and the chicken was cooked nicely. It had a nice healthy taste, but seemed to be missing out on zesty components.
Overall, these sandwiches were pretty well put together, the Reuben was fantastic, the others could be a little improved. We will be back to try out their Schnitty and deli combo sandwiches in the future....
Read moreThank you Frank’s deli ! There has been so much hype regarding this cafe and every weekend I see plenty of people lining up so I had to check it out myself this morning. I don’t usually write reviews though I had to write for Frank’s. The lovely ladies in the back of house had helped me mesh together a meatball sandwich with scrambled eggs and she put mozzarella in with my egg! ( great idea ) Without hesitation my odd order was respectfully accepted which adds points to customer service. The front of house lady was very sweet and patient, knows that everything and anything you order will not be regretted! Aussie staff members and it’s nice to see a good male to female ratio. My meal was DELISH , very filling I can save the other half for later and be full with the first half. Worth the coin and wait. I paired my sandwich with a ‘Simon Says Juice’ green juice, never seen this brand so I gave it a like on Facebook, The vibes I get From products they offer have been well found and thought through. All together a FAB experience and I will be back! Great customer service...
