Gelatissimo Circular Quay — Restaurant in Sydney

GOT CHARGED DOUBLE. BLATANT STEAL. ZERO STAR (have to put 1 to post). I would AVOID this shop.

I went to this ice cream shop on 27th December 2018. The one serving me was a girl with brunette hair. There were 2 girls working (both with brown hair) but it was the younger looking one that served me. I ordered 2 scoops which costs $7.90, I handed in my card to pay because the atm pos machine was located inside the shop. I had an intuition that she was not charging the correct amount after handing in my card. Thankfully with mobile bank apps these days I can immediately check the transaction. I saw on the account that they charged me $15.80 which is essentially double and I ordered only 1 ice cream with 2 scoops, the girl even served and handed me only 1 ice cream. This is blatantly stealing and preying on customers and I think due to the popular tourist spots of circular quay that they hoped the customer will not be able to find out or too late to find out and won't be able to do anything about it. You can clearly tell this has happened a few times before because I checked for other reviewers of this shop after this unpleasant visit and there were 2-3 that shared the same experience months ago. Hence this issue has been going on for a long time and still not being fixed.

Upon knowing that they scammed me for double the price, I immediately went back and asked a different person, one of the two asian guys that were working there. I told them that I got charged for 2 ice cream instead of 1. He asked me who served me and I told him that it was the girl with the brown hair. I showed him the transaction on my phone and he refunded me $7.90 in cash back. Don't let them cheat you. Avoid this shop unless you pay cash.

Edit to reply to Gelatissimo response: I want to add that I was not offered any receipt and therefore did not get any receipt from them. I would highly suggest you do your own investigation for this quality assurance such as Mystery Shopping rather than going to the store manager first. I am not sure if your method of assuring customers being charged correctly is even in place if I was not even offered a receipt or a verbal statement of how much I will be paying from the employee...

Not very happy experience. We got the shop around 12:30pm on last Sunday. It's busy and lots of customers were waiting, but only two staffs were serving. There were three groups customers in front of me, one mum with two kids, a couple then two grils. We made a queue, but some other people came to see what flavors are behind the glass, then were just standing in front of counter. The shop staffs have no ideas who is next customer. After few customers cut in, there were fights between customers and staffs even couldn't say "please line up here" which can simply fix the problem. On the other hand, it seems there is no standard for the size of scoop. I ordered three single scoop on corns and they are clearly not in similar size to each others. Two of them already started dripping when the staff...

If you’re looking for some delicious ice cream while waiting for a ferry ride or right after you get off one, this is the place to go. I had the two flavor Mint Chip and Cookies and Cream. Both were delicious!!!

Be prepared for long lines and chaos if its during peek hours or during Sat/Sun. There are two counters to order from and because there’s no real signage and the employees are so busy, no one knows where to line up or who is first/next.

Tip to the establishment: Buy some stanchions to make a queuing line to help guests. With so many nationalities colliding, it gets quite confusing. Or, have an “Order Here” sign that hangs from the top so guests know how and where to line up. Your locations is unbeatable but a simple crowd solution would help...
