Golden Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

I don’t even know how to review this. The food taste really good and the customer service is also really good. But here’s what happened: Made my order over the phone for a pickup, came and paid and picked it up. They had even given me some extra spring rolls and dim sims which was really nice. Got home, I realised that they had forgotten my fortune cookies and there was no sauce for the honey chicken. So I called up and explained and went back to pick up the fortune cookies and was told that the sauce was cooked with the chicken and I’d need to ask for extra next time if I want which is fair enough. Once my wife put our baby down to sleep we start eating. The food is really good and then my wife opens the container for the sweet and sour pork. This container was just the sauce and vegetables but we didn’t have any pork. At that point I realised - it’s not that they forgot the honey sauce for the honey chicken, it’s that’s they had forgotten the whole honey chicken order entirely. I was eating the pork with the honey sauce thinking it was chicken but in reality they just didn’t give me my honey chicken which I ordered 2 of. Im not calling or going back a third time because that clearly looks bad on my part and That I’m trying to get extra or whatever which obviously isn’t the case. Im more upset that there is pretty much $30 of my meal that I’ll never get back.. once again, it could be an honest mistake but still.. ruined our night. Don’t less this deter you from ordering here, just always triple...

Golden chopstick!! The most gold thing about the place is the many laughs you will have with your friends as you question the decor! There are medals hanging off some horns on the wall, at first we wondered if for hunting. Later we found out for marathon! No one here looked fit enough to walk to the front door let alone marathon!!

The price vs portion size is considerably unbalanced in the sense that YOU Pay the bigger portion! Special fried rice.... It’s special alright!!! Last nights shredded woolies roast chicken with some tinned prawns and what I can only guess was smoked ham? It completely overpowered the whole meal. You are greeted by dirty stained table cloths and unmatching dodgy paint jobs!

While eating you are filmed by the elderly Asian lady who ONLY does this during our whole sitting, your not asked you are just filmed to god knows where on her iPhone which we found rude and off putting!!

If that wasn’t enough to put you off then when your finishing up you cop her pointing at her watch asking when are you LEAVING! As she eats and spits her lychee seeds across from you.

Overall it was an experience we must say!

Make sure to bring your camera you can snap shots of a rare Australian koala hanging off the goat horns on the wall! Or perhaps you’d prefer a snap with Astro Boy or some characters from your favourite pokies machine!

We started getting takeout delivered almost a year ago from here as our previous Chinese takeout was going to charge $8 for delivery instead of the normal $5 cause we had moved from our previous address and we were now further by an extra 5km. So we found this one on Queen St that we hadn’t tried before as we had tried all the others and they all had hit and misses which was disappointing and We haven’t looked back since. Every dish we have tried is great and it always comes steaming hot even with the hour wait for delivery. The owner who also delivers every time we’ve ordered is so friendly and kind. He always gives me a free serving of spring rolls even when I don’t order them now cause he knows I love them. Only downside is even though your getting what you pay for they are a little pricier than others but...
