Today my partner and Mother came in to try their yum Cha and we called ahead of time to ask if there would be the trolley service for dinner which they confirmed so we were excited on arrival for the trolley service as not many yum Cha places have it nowadays. Upon arrival we were seated and as the restaurant wasn’t that packed there was no trolley service in sight which is understandable but abit disappointing since we came for the trolley to begin with. We were then seated and given a menu and asked if we wanted any drinks which we got some water and tea. We had a browse and my partner and I got two crab and corn soup, the prawn dumplings, fried ice cream and some fried dimsims. My mother who doesn’t understand English that well was having a hard time deciding and reading from the menu so she was taking a while which the man in charge took my partner and I orders away and said he would be back once my mum had decided. We assumed he was just going to put through the orders while we all waited for my mother to decide what she wanted to order. After around 10 minutes my mother finally made up her mind and got two scallops and a serving of prawn dumplings which she then was going to ask about their other options in the menu but the guy in charge cut her off and ask are you done now, I’ve had to wait for you to decide, have you finished ordering yet! We said yes and he took off the paper and put it on the table and then sent in our order while looking extremely unhappy. Usually I’m not one to write a bad review but it was just rude and made the atmosphere uncomfortable afterwards. The soup was good although abit bland, the prawn dumpling were decent but nothing extremely special. The scallops were very small and according to my mother weren’t the freshest and tasted more refrigerated. The fried dimsims were yummy and had really good sauce pairing. The fried ice cream wasn’t for my taste pallet and I didn’t really enjoy it as it was rock hard. I definitely want to add that the female servers were great and friendly and there were no issue with any of them it was more of the male ones who were rude and made the atmosphere very unwelcoming. All together it was on more on the pricy side especially with the small portion sizes. They had good lunch yum Cha from my past experience but I don’t recommend the...
Read more1st time we tried their dinner menu on 18.2.24 - only had yum cha here a few times & enjoyed it, so thought dinner would be no exception I booked a private room & didn't know there was a minimum spend limit, as I wasn't told at the time I called, but staff were friendly & accommodating, so it wasn't an issue Loved most of the food we ordered & friendly fast service on top
Mud crab vermicelli claypot - every ingredient was cooked & flavoured perfectly. Score 10/10 × 100 Lobster w/E-fu noodles - another perfectly cooked & flavoured dish. Same score as above Coral trout - my favourite fish - same comment as above 🤗 Wasabi beef - melt in your mouth texture & well seasoned. Very minor critique: I wish there was more wasabi hit/heat to the flavour, but at the same time, lucky there wasn't, as my 2yr old bb loved this dish too XO pippis w/crispy vermicelli = another perfect dish for me
The above were the top dishes & if we only had them, then my review would be 100 stars - the below dishes were not wow like the above
Fried tofu with salted duck egg yolk - the batter was perfectly flavoured & not oily as deep fried food is but the tofu inside was not cooked to my liking & not piping hot Squid ink fried rice - my family liked it but not something I like at any restaurant I've tried Morning glory - nicely cooked & flavoured but tastes the same as most restaurants Roast duck - too salty & dry. Didn't taste fresh either Eggplant & mince claypot - perfectly flavoured but the eggplant was a bit overcooked Seafood beancurd (hoi tong dofu) - nicely cooked & flavoured but tastes the same as...
Read morelast wednesday, went and tried this restaurant for the first time. unfortunately, here are the issues I encountered:
staff giving wrong information: asked staff regarding service offered, if it is all you can eat or order separately (ala carte), or if there are set menus we can choose from since there is only one menu on the table (printed back to back and shows lunch options only. one staff said can order separately (ala carte) and another one said, it’s all you can eat. asked twice and was told can have all you can eat if you want.. end up paying for each dish (ala carte instead of what what mentioned earlier “all you can eat” option.
wrongfully charged: was charge 2 take a way boxes of which only one box was given, another item was also charged of which I and sister didn’t avail or order. my sister and I counted what was ordered and can not seem what figure out what item was being charged (unfortunately, we already paid when we noticed the bill).
other observation: the food isn’t that bad.
wish that the staff were more transparent on the prices / service offered and no misleading information to customers (confusing information are not fun). All prices much be printed / posted. This should be mandatory to all establishment which also includes translation to English if required. Ingredients for every menu like pork/beef/ contains peanut etc much also be considered in relation to culture, food allergies and the like.
sorry, will...
