KIN Cafe & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Sydney

It was a good experience to try out his new place. Great to see Lane Cove is gaining more cafes with a broad selection of coffees for this area.

We ordered the: Manuka wood smoked salmon and the Bacon hash brown benedict for lunch. I wanted a light, flavourful and fresh lunch and the salmon was all that! The hash brown benedict could do with toast as a basis and the hash browns as a side next to the bacon to make the dish look more complete and make the components work better together.

The service tried real hard and are very kind, but they definitely still lack some experience. To second that, as a hospitality professional, you need to order trays for your staff! That'll definitely speed up the efficiency in the cafe!

The cutlery is 18/10 stainless steel, which surprised me because it is quite classy for a cafe (often used for fine dining!) The glasses and teacups are of amazing quality and the store is very clean, modern and slick.

Service wise they could definitely use some experience, but there is plenty of room to improve and finetune. For this reason I was one the fence of rating them 3 or 4 stars.

We also ordered some take away coffee. The latte was pretty good and well balanced, the matcha latte was a tiny bit bitter, but very very hot. The barista was very particular with his art, that was a nice touch too. Would...

Pathetic Service!

I ordered two coffees at 10:25 am on a Sunday morning. There were no other customers ahead of me at the time; however, there were approximately 8 to 10 people in line behind me.

After waiting for my order for 20 minutes and realizing that everyone who had come after me had received their coffees, I politely reminded the employee at the counter about my order and that I had been waiting for 20 minutes. She looked at the lids with my order details and realized that they had forgotten it.

The uninterested employee said, "Sorry, your order is coming." So I thought, maybe another five minutes. No! Another 15 minutes passed, and more customers who ordered after me received their coffees, while mine was nowhere in sight.

I went back to ask about my order and was asked if I wanted a refund.

So After 35 minutes of waiting, I didn't receive any coffee, just a refund and a careless "sorry."

There was no accountability, no care, and no interest in providing good service.

I have received bad service before, but this is some of the worst I have ever experienced....

EDITED: Changing my regretful 4 star review to 5 stars after returning. Today I was greeted by a warm and friendly waiter with long blond hair who made me + other patrons feel so welcome upon entering. He was lovely to talk to and walked me through their menu explaining the two different coffee blends that they offered. So service was impeccable!

I gave breakfast a go and had their Kim Chi Folded Eggs, which really hit the spot, and washed it down with a glass of orange juice and also a cup of the smoothest oat cappuccino in Lane Cove. Really appreciate the love and attention to detail that goes into their menu, venue and customer service. I had a really stressful day ahead of me and this was an excellent way to start my morning.
