King Tide Cafe — Restaurant in Sydney

Terrible customer service when we dined yesterday. when we were arrived we were told the grill was off and we could only order fried food, no burgers or grilled fish. This was odd as 3/4 of the menu was grilled. When we sat down everyone around us had grilled food so I asked the lady to confirm if there was no grilled food she again said no.

When we got to the line which was total chaos, we kept getting moved between a line in front of the ice cream and a line in front of the cash register. The line wasn’t moving because the person at the front was having a argument with one of the staff because they were offering them burgers when they got told the grill was off when they were seated.

When it was our turn the server stopped serving me half way through my order to serve someone else after I paid to give them a muffin, I wanted to add a side of sauce to my order . When he came back to me he greeted me by saying “how can I help you “ like he hadn’t already taken half my order. I said I would also like a side of sauce, he looked at me and said “ that’s all you want some sauce” I was then made to repeat my entire order and he tried to charge me again.

Lastly the food was over priced...

This restaurant cannot survive solely on its location. Our meals were fish tacos & battered barramundi with chips and salad. The food was woeful. The fish in the taco was not freshly cooked, it was barely warm. The pineapple salsa was almost non existant. The other meal arrived with warm soggy chips. The batter around the fish was quiet odd. It was dark in colour (perhaps from the beer?) It was soggy. All of the food was bland and un-seasoned. The tartare sauce was ? pink .. !! and tasted nothing like Tartare sauce. At lease it was better than the commercially bought poor quality product that they used to serve. We used to visit on a regular occassion as the food was acceptable, never great, but then the quality dropped to an unacceptable level. We thought we would give it another try but now regret that decision. The only good thing about our visit was the view and the nice female staff member who was working the floor. The one star is for her. Unfortunately, those two things will not save this venue...

Sunday 31 September we decided to go here for Breakfast, phoned and booked a table but wasn't that busy when we arrived. We sat next to a large table of 10 and ordered. After a while we could see a waiter visiting our next table saying food was coming and others questions regarding where's our food. Anyway after one hour it was apparent why and eventually next table received their order, one meal at a time, then an hour and quarter we received ours, one at a time. We ordered a breakfast with sausage, none on plate, called waiter who disappeared then came back to tell us we ran out. This place is a disaster, no manager to complain too and poor waiters having to field numerous complaints which is not fair on the staff. Worst experience in six years of being in Australia, absolute disgrace and this business deserves to have no business.
