We’ve been coming to Lifeboat Seafood for over 20 years.
What began as a mother’s day tradition has morphed into a birthday tradition whenever I am back in town from Singapore for a visit.
The quality of the food is always high. Fresh fish, with plenty of varieties; huge prawns, and large calamari that has breakable chew and is never stringy.
Today’s visit was no exception. Combining my brother and I’s birthdays we came with empty stomach’s and full expectations.
I believe they may have new owners since we last visited as we didn’t recognise any of the staff and yet the food was still delicious.
We started with oysters, deep-fried prawns and calamari to start, followed by individual servings of fish ‘n’ chips and a salad to share.
The house-made tartar is also great. Less sweet than store bought but still with that memorable tang.

Read moreThis is a hidden gem. Excellent seafood with the best largest juiciest Tiger Prawns I’ve ever had. Very reasonably priced for quality seafood in an outdoor restaurant setting with service. Fish and chips with salad was fantastic crispy, fresh delicious and the calamari is the real deal. All this with wine, bought next door, fabulous live music under cover with a beautiful wisteria vine. The day was 33 deg but we didn’t feel hot under the canopy. Not glamorous but rustic and a perfect afternoon. Not only that but the 2 guys running it couldn’t have been more accommodating. We didn’t have a booking and they fitted us in at a busy time and were wonderful about it. The other staff were so friendly too. This is equal to many upmarket seafood houses in Sydney. Plus it’s a lovely drive and walk around. What a hit...
