Dishonest and probably illegal pricing practices that ruined an otherwise decent food. Totally not going back here, and I do not recommend anyone to support this business as they currently are, due to the dishonest and unethical business practices.
They added an extra $9 for the second course of the Half Peking Duck Set, this additional price was never mentioned anywhere in the menu nor by the staffs. $41.80 would not have been an unreasonable price for a Two-Course Half Peking Duck, but the menu had listed this at $32.80. Why not just put the honest price in the menu? Why do you tarnish your own good reputation this way? It would just cost $5 to fix this with a small piece of sticky paper.
The Peking Duck itself was presented rather weird. The duck itself is cooked ok, but the pancake course of this dish traditionally is supposed to be just crispy duck skin with little or no meat, but because they sliced off a very thick chunks of the duck meat for the first course, the second course basically just became nearly meatless, tasteless, greasy noodle. It's not bad, but it's not the way this dish is traditionally made and that second course is a complete disappointment.
Prices are above average. The other dishes that we ordered were cooked well except they are rather bland/not seasoned enough. It's much more common for Chinese restaurants to overseason their dishes, so this is the first time I've been to one that underseason every dish to this extent. Some people might like their food that way, but you are likely going to want to add some extra salt, MSG, or soy sauce.
The dish as they came out of the kitchen were a 3 star because they're so underseasoned, but if they're seasoned just right or if you add a bit of salt/soy sauce to fix it to taste, they could have been a 4.5 star. Other than being underseasoned (which is easily fixable, unlike being overseasoned), the dishes themselves was otherwise cooked perfectly. Not that the food itself matters though, it doesn't matter how good it is, dishonesty and deliberate mispricing is completely unacceptable, no matter how good the food is.
Decor was on point. Nothing fancy, but it's down to earth, bright without being overdone or overbearing. Perfect for the upper casual...

4.1/5*
The Feed Punchers went into the Eastern suburbs capital for Asian food, Kingsford. In search for an authentic Chinese restaurant, our eye was caught by Kingsford Peking restaurant.
-It would have been rude if we hadn’t started with a couple Peking ducks, it’s in the name of the restaurant after all. The duck was incredibly crispy, carrying a sensational duck fat taste. It was delicate in the mouth and melted on the tongue. Served perfectly on the side, was their Peking plum sauce, which was rich with a sweet syrupy-soy-fruity finish.
-Next came the main meals, with the favourite on the table being the braised pork. This was extremely soft and fatty, with a sweet bbq honey tasting sauce and caramelised onions.
-The Mongolian lamb was succulent and tender, fostering predominantly sweet flavours, served in a dark soy style sauce with added onions for crunch and taste.
-The fried rice was the perfect companion to all the dishes. It featured pork, prawns, egg, spring onion and even roe on the top. A very tasty rice.
The Stir fried beef-black bean came with a nice addition of green Beans, which combined well with the tender beef slices.
-The Szechuan chicken was coated in a distinctively sweet and spicy sauce, with juicy pieces of chicken thigh. The use of the Szechuan peppercorns provided the perfect peppery kick, which was balanced with fresh vegetables.
-The crispy Shan Dong chicken carried strong hints of chilli, garlic and soy in its crispy skin. The chicken was cooked well, soft and tender. The crispy skin chicken was similar, just without the added flavour.
-The curry chicken was a huge letdown, it was weak, watery and subsequently, flavourless.
-The kun pao chicken was sweet, savoury and tangy, with a Sichuan pepper sauce. Capsicum and peanuts, helped to create this classic dish, which was nicely done.
-We ordered Peking pork ribs, which we were instead given sweet and sour pork, which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t wanted.
Overall, this was a great variety of Chinese food, some high points and some low points. Thank-you Kingsford...
Read moreUsed to be good, but never again after tonight - has close to the worst restaurant meal experience.
Ordered at 6:45, restaurant was busy, floor seemed to be under control, had two young kids under 8, waited patiently, 7:30 came and went, no food, other tables were fine, 8:00 came and went, several other tables that arrived well after us served, was asked which dishes we wanted first but were then finally told our order hadn’t even been lodged (they somehow didn’t notice the bare table in a full restaurant).
Still more food for other tables comes out, finally (not the kids dishes we’d asked for) food came out.
Peking duck had half the pancakes, cucumber and sauce but when asking for more please were told another serve would be $8.50, thanks.
Dumplings were thick skinned and tasted like sausage roll and kids were sad, tired and hungry when we left because they didn’t like the food (and they like what we usually order for them).
Never again - sorry.
PS: How many of the wait staff were in training? Pretty obvious when every single table around us had been served and even after they asked which meal we wanted first they didn't check whether the order had been lodged. Sorry, but if this had happened I wouldn't have charged for anything.
I don't care for me but when this impacts children who were unfed, tired and then got food which they normally love but was sub-par and you do nothing to fix it, that's a problem.
Not coming back for good reason - you have no problem charging customers but don't really care...
