The Kogarah Clubhouse is a newly renovated destination venue located in the southern suburbs of Sydney, just 15 minutes south of Sydney’s CBD. It has reopened as a drinking, dining and social hub housing restaurants, bars and entertainment. It is cool space for locals and visitors from afar, keen for a few drinks, a catch up or a bite to eat. It’s only a short distance from the train station and Kogarah oval, making it an ideal venue to visit before or after a sporting event. The bar is a comfortable spot to enjoy a drink and some nibbles. It has a great range of drinks on the menu and reasonably priced too, at only $5.80 a schooner! There is a good selection of wine, an extensive list of spirits, and whisky in particular. There is plenty to choose from on tap including craft beer, alcoholic ginger beer, kombucha, and Rose amongst others. There are a number of intriguing cocktails on the list to keep the night interesting. We found it hard to pick a favourite, so we tried a few! The 'Fairy Godmother' was a winner. The bright red drink was made with beefeater pink gin, cointreau blood orange, campari and topped off with strawberries. This weeks special was an old fashioned for only $12 and the Tim Tam, made with frangelico, buffalo trace bourbon, tia maria, licor 43, it was certainly a treat. For those who have to wear the designated driver hat, many of their cocktails can be made as mocktails, or alcohol free. The espresso martini was just as good as a normal one, just minus the booze. The bar and lounge surrounds is stunning, with their styling on point, featuring peach and maroon tones, wooden bar stools, copper bar taps and mosaic tiles. The colours work well together. The hanging basketry pendant lights and greenery makes it feel like an urban oasis. The staff are absolutely delightful and each and every interaction we had with a range of staff showcased their love of the job and keenness to do everything to help. This is clearly testament to a good hiring and training process. We appreciated chatting to the passionate General Manager who has put his all into keeping the venue a place for long term loyal customers to return as well as accruing a new crowd too. The Pearl Asian Eating House offers yum cha open 7 days. There is also Blake Street Kitchen, where we enjoyed dinner. They serve bistro fare including all day breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also brew coffee from the Grounds on a La Marzocca Coffee machine. A great way to also have a coffee in the afternoon or evening, which in Sydney is often hard to find.

The Blake Street venue is a casual dining space with a few covered alfresco tables, and plenty inside. We sat inside at one of the tables with a cushioned back seat. We love the maroon velveteen cushions and Art Deco artwork which makes for a cool spot.

The menu has plenty of popular choices for a bistro at super reasonable prices. The food here comes in extraordinary generous portions, so you’re certainly getting your money’s worth. Whether it be a parmigiana, steak, burger or pasta, you’ll find something to satisfy. We shared the Chicken Quinoa Salad ($17) complete with almonds, carrots, spinach, roasted beetroot, pumpkin seed, feta cheese and homemade lemon dressing. It was a refreshing salad and really nicely grilled chicken sitting atop the salad and plated with a few sliced radishes. We really enjoyed the Market Fish of the Day, which was a huge piece of salmon, cooked to perfection and served with plenty of rosemary garlic chat potatoes, summer salsa, tarte & lemon wedge. At only $25, it is one of the best value seafood we’ve seen in a while. In addition, we also had the Seafood Bowl, complete with Grilled prawns, Squid, some grilled barramundi and Battered fish, Calamari, Seafood stick, and prawn cutlets as well as chips and a garnish salad. Again super reasonable price for the size - only $20. Between the two of us, it was a lot of food, so you could easily order two dishes to share. That said we demolished it all, just couldn’t...

20/11/2020 decided for the first time to enjoy Friday evening in that venue since the food was amazing there. We decided to play pokies in there gambling room. To say this was the worst experience it saying nothing. We put $10 in the machine (playeay be a few times in our life time this kind of machines) not planning on winning but just bet $0.05 for fun. After 2 minutes some guy comes up and says there was his money in that machine. Even though when we started playing the machine was not on the "reserved" or any funds left on the balance. Simply when we approached this machine it was in regular "demo" mode. So we called a supervisor on that night. Supervisor looked at the cameras and confirmed machine was not on the "reserved". After about 30 minutes of our "relaxing" evening in this venue supervisor tried to check logges on that machine, clearly he didn't know how to check anything as he was skipping from one menu to another menu and he was not able to see sessions or transactions (bets) on that machine. So that guy who claimed that he had his funds on that machine got our, at that point, $20 as we had some small wins by the time he approached us. So technically supervisor on that day allowed this scammer get the funds that we had. Will not be using this "venue" for this purposes as no one actually trained to deal with this technical side of operations.

Instead of enjoying our Friday evening we spent about an hour under the stress and were scammed. Great experience!

Staff are nice and friendly and food is great.

Never again the gambling side...

Have been a member for a few years and we have had some good experiences here but lately it is all about cost cutting and raising prices. A lot of the meals arrive with half the plate empty. The roast special on Sunday and the steak special are a prime example. Extremely small servings with half the plate empty. They just raised the price of a glass of house wine from $9 to $10.50. Don't get me started on the Chinese restaurant, got charged for Chinese Tea when we didn't even have any, lucky I got a receipt and I went back and got my money back. I wonder how many other people get charged when they haven't even ordered any. Their promos are rubbish and you would be lucky to win 20 cents in points. They really have concentrated on cost cutting and it shows as most of the time the club is near empty. They need to improve the food offerings and their bar prices. I think they seem to see themselves as a high end venue when clearly they are not and they are driving...

Kogarah clubhouse is a cool new venue for nights out. They have been renovated last year and have a really good vibe. They have ample covered parking if you are member( which you join to become a member you get the cost back in credit which makes it free. So worth while for parking in a place like kogarah) Their fare is pretty much alright , run of the mill pub fare but made quite well. The ambience and seating is quite nice food service is great (order in from St Blake's kitchen) but alcohol service is slow and not flexible ( like if you have a request that's not off their menu they seem to struggle to make it for you and tell you they will charge you by the ingredient making it very expensive.
