Avoid this place! I recently went to the Carlton hotel for dinner with two friends. They both ate the same meal, and both got food poisoning the next day. They reflected that the salad wasn’t fresh and thought the bean sprouts were likely the culprit. When I reported it to the operations manager, Joshua Green, his response was very unprofessional. He literally said “From a business perspective we can’t offer refunds to all the people who report food poisoning” which of course begs the obvious question: Is it a common occurrence for people to report food poisoning to him?! He then proceeded to make the laughable suggestion that bean sprouts can cause indigestion that mimics infectious gastroenteritis but actually isn’t. He added other nonsense comments, such as that the reason raw bean sprouts are unadvisable in pregnancy is because they cause indigestion, not because of risk of bacterial contamination. Instead of offering a sincere apology (which is the only logical response to a complaint like this), he questioned the validity of what I was saying and responded in an aggressive and defensive manner. At the end of the phone call (after he’d wasted my time) he said that instead of speaking with me he needs to speak with my friends who had the food poisoning. I spoke with my friends afterwards and we decided that it was not worth them calling him because this guy was clearly not at all interested in taking our feedback seriously or responding to it appropriately. And to be honest, I wanted to save them the frustration of trying to have a respectful and productive conversation with him. This has definitely been the worst customer experience I have ever had. I have shared this experience with my family and friends who often go to the Carlton pub. None of us will be going there anymore. If you’re looking for a good pub in the area, I suggest going to the Allawah Hotel, which has great food and is managed...
Read moreNormally I don't want to write but this incident made me very disappointment with the treatment I received at Carlton Pub on Tuesday night. My partner and I have been loyal patrons of your establishment for over nine years, frequently enjoying our time in the VIP lounge in a respectful and quiet manner.
On this matter, after experiencing some losses, I decided to take a moment to sit on a chair, which I normally do while my partner continued playing. Despite the lounge not being busy, a staff member—who I do not believe normally works in that section—approached me and rudely told me that if I was not playing, I could not sit. This interaction made me feel singled out and unwelcome, particularly as I noticed other patrons who were not playing but were not approached in the same manner.
I found this treatment to be unfair and biased, which left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. As a long-term customer, I expect to be treated with the same courtesy as others, and this experience has made me reconsider my patronage.
I request that this matter to be reviewed. 5 star for other team members who has been...

Bistro was terrible. Ordered a 350g sirloin, wife a crispy john dory, sis in law a 250g steak. Hers came out, burnt black edges and the size of a childs palm. I ignored that, told myself it was thick.
My sirloin came out, burnt black edges, not a sirloin, but a half tbone with bone and other half missing.
Wifes dory was burnt silly and over cooked do much, it to was the size of a Childs palm.
I am not even going to talk about the cold as ice cold mash and over seasoned with some capsicum flakes on the chips, or my sons rissole which was sold as a cheeseburger.
I worked it out, the piece of meat my sister inlaw got was the other half of my tbone, which was supposedly a sirloin. Tbone wasnt even on the menu.
I am usually quite tolerant of bistros, i get it, i understand the way it works.
Bistro needs lots of work, place...
