Mixed feelings about this café. It's further up George St than most of Bakehouse Quarter, in fact just around the corner from North Strathfield Station, and looks (and is) bright and clean and with space to move around the tables. A number of seats at a central counter with power outlets so catering for those who take their work with them. Note that dining in requires ordering at the counter - the self service tablet just inside the front door seems to be for takeaway drinks only.

Food is quite good (what I have tried) though limited and on Fridays at least seems to be open until late so not sure what would be left by the evening (unless they restock). Impressed that my banana bread came on a little tray with not only butter but also both knife and fork. The wrap that I tried was good, and the Basque cheesecake looked deliciously tempting.

The downside is the coffee. First time I tried it it was weaker than I prefer so next visit I asked whether it could be done a bit stronger though without adding an extra shot. I would have thought that that was a basic barista skill, however the person taking my order said that the only way to achieve what I wanted was to have less milk in the cup (which doesn't actually make the base caffeine any stronger!). Not sure whether this was told to me due to server ignorance or lack of skill by the barista, but it was a disappointing outcome.

The service was very pleasant and very efficient overall and I may yet return (and maybe speak to the barista directly to see if he is skilled or just barely competent).

Bottom line, maybe worth a try, but with...

I visited the shop twice on Saturday, first in the morning and later around lunchtime. During my first visit, I ordered three drinks. Despite the shop being busy, the customer service was a bit unusual. I had to ask for a tray for my drinks and search for straws, which were previously provided with the drinks. The person next to me also had to request a tray, suggesting that this information could be communicated upon drink collection.

I had to wait for my other drink and croffle for about 10 minutes, which was understandable, but it felt unpleasant to see my croffle sitting on the bench 😂.

Later, when I returned to get some sandwiches, I also ordered a cake for my friend, whom I coincidentally bumped into at the cafe. I requested the cake to be served 'for here,' but then I noticed one of the staff members grabbing the cake with bare hands from the cake fridge (even though it had a plastic cover). Additionally, despite my intention for it to be served 'for here,' the cake was prepared as a takeaway as I was standing

I have frequented Lalune on multiple occasions and have consistently enjoyed their excellent service, delightful coffee, and scrumptious food. There is room for even greater improvements that could elevate the...

Was really excited to come here for ages based on reviews but was extremely disappointed by rude and arrogant staff. I asked about dining in and ordering a sandwich and enquired if I was ordering in, if the sandwiches are made fresh to order. The barista mockingly replied very loudly "WE MAKE THEM FRESH EVERY DAY... In the morning"... Which wasn't what I asked, but his demeanour was quite patronising. Did he really have to yell? I submitted and ordered the egg sandwich which tasted fine (on Helga's bread) but only half a sandwich was brought out. Apparently $10 per half sandwich ? Wild. Luckily I didn't order any drinks otherwise I might have only received half a coffee. I honestly wouldn't have minded all of this if they weren't so rude... Would hate to come here on a weekend when it's actually busy, can only assume customer service would be even worse ( I came on a Tuesday during an off...

Visited on Saturday 3rd December 2022 We ordered Chicken Salad, Chicken Schnitzel Panini, two iced coffees, a slice of Nutella basque, and a slice of Apple Basque. Was disappointed with the Chicken Salad as it was pre-made rather than made on the spot considering this is a cafe style shopfront. It's like a takeaway store similar to McCafe (in Camperdown that was closed down already). Chicken Schnitzel Panini was toasted and tasted fresh and crunchy. It might be pre-made as well, but it didn't look like it or taste like one. The iced coffees were nice and had a taste of coffee, but were a bit too pricey for such a small sized drink. The Nutella basque was too sweet for our liking. The Apple Basque was perfect. Service was friendly and initiated to replace our water when we run low, and cleared plates frequently. I like the way the cafe was designed, it was warm and friendly and cosy.

I've visited twice, and after ordering better the second time, I've updated my previous 3-star review to 4 stars. The blueberry bagel with cream cheese and the cheesy kimchi toastie are standouts. However, I still find their matcha to be on the sweet and mild side, which isn't to my taste as I prefer a more robust matcha flavor. During my first visit, I ordered a strong matcha with no sugar, but it was still overly sweet, and the matcha flavor was hardly noticeable. On the second visit, we tried the strawberry matcha which was creamy with a hint of matcha flavour. I’ve tried the jalapeño cheese pastry on two separate occasions—while it had a nice kick, it wasn't crisp, even when I visited early in the morning. The ambiance is pleasant, and the service is efficient. I’d recommend visiting around 9 a.m., as it tends to get busy on weekends.
