I visited this café around 8am on a Sunday and unfortunately had an uncomfortable experience with one of the staff members. While waiting in line to order, I was holding my phone ready to pay for my coffee. Without greeting me or asking anything, a staff member leaned over, looked directly at my phone, and abruptly asked, “Uber?” as if I were there for a delivery pickup.
I was caught off guard and explained that I was just a customer ordering a coffee. The staff member then commented that my appearance “seemed so.” I happened to be wearing casual clothes (a red polo and jumpers) that morning because I was planning to wash my car after grabbing a takeaway coffee. However, assumptions should never be made about a customer’s purpose or identity based on appearance alone.
What made the experience worse was that there was no apology or acknowledgement of the mistake. She went ahead with my order but did not respond when I thanked her. Another staff member eventually handed me my coffee. The lack of basic courtesy left me wondering if she was embarrassed, dismissive, or simply chose not to treat me with the same respect as other customers.
As someone of Indian background, I couldn’t help but feel that the assumption linked to being an “Uber driver” was tied to a stereotype. Not all Indians are Uber drivers, and no customer should ever feel judged or reduced to a stereotype when they walk into a café. Everyone deserves to be greeted politely and served respectfully, regardless of their clothing, appearance, or ethnicity.
I also want to be clear — being an Uber driver is absolutely not a bad job. In fact, Uber drivers provide an important service and deserve respect for the work they do. My concern is not about the role itself, but about the staff member’s quick assumption based on my appearance and background.
I’m sharing this feedback not to attack the café, but in the hope that management can use it as a reminder to train staff on professionalism, inclusivity, and customer respect. A warm greeting, an apology for misunderstandings, and avoiding assumptions go a long way in making all customers...
Read moreWas recommended bar biscotti from a friend and we were so eager to try it. The drinks were a 10/10 definitely must try. The tiramisu latte and strawberry matcha exceeded our expectations. The fillet o fish burger was good 7/10 but the schnitzel sandwich was a solid 10/10- we would definitely come back for it. Unfortunately our overall experience at bar biscotti was dampened by the lack of attentiveness of staff. We sat inside where many wait staff were working. Once they were done taking your order that’s the last you saw of them. We had ordered a croissant and our latte came on a plate before our food had come. The waitress came to bring our food to us and saw that the table was full- had no where to put the plates so I picked up the empty plate and made room. She put the food down and walked away and ignored the dirty plates in my hand. I tried many a times to get a staff members attention to clear the table but not one person came our way or even looked at us. I tried to get some clean serviettes as we had used ours and had to walk up to the counter. I noticed the table next to us brought their dirty dishes to the counter as no one was tending their table either. Considering they had so many wait staff working and it wasn’t busy this was quite a sad first impression. The knives on the table were also quite dirty as you can see from the table but there was no staff to ask for a new one so we just quickly...
Read moreA cute little cosy cafe with friendly but somewhat slow customer service. I reserved a table for my friend and I to have brunch there. We were seated promptly and our order was taken quickly.
Food was a little slow to come out it was about 30 minutes and our drinks were forgotten. I had to flag someone down.
We ordered the Mediterranean wrap and fish sandwich, they were excellent. Chicken was so tender and the sauce used was somewhat spicy but delicious. The fish was flaky but definitely needed more sauce.
Dessert was average. I came here mostly for the dessert as I saw so many reviews by influencers online stating how amazing the croissants were here.
Almond croissant was less than average. It was not flaky, there was no crunch and didn’t have much flavour. It wasn’t good.
Pistachio croissant was better. Still there was no crunch and was not flaky. But the pistachio cream was delicious.
Highlight - tiramisu latte. THIS was phenomenal. Highly recommend.
Ironically we were only coming here for pastries and coffee. But I am so glad we had lunch here, as it definitely hit the spot.
I gave this restaurant 4 stars because lunch was great and they catered to my special request. They sang Happy Birthday to my friend. Loved that.
Would I come back again? Yes definitely for the lunch, friendly customer service and coffee. Anyone wanting to come here - make a reservation so you’re not...
