Lovely location. Service was not very friendly. Food and coffee good except I asked for some extra butter and it never came. A little pricy for me to make it a regular place. I enjoyed sitting on the front balcony which only has 4 tables. Was lovely and quiet and a great place to complete some work on my computer. However when I went to pay, the guy was very unfriendly and the only words he said to me without a smile was click yes or no if you want to leave a tip. I thought probably not with that attitude. Plus I don’t tip in Australia .
Nov 23: have been back a few times and the service has been so much better and friendly and no more asking for tips but today we encountered quite unfriendly service. My mother had just been released from four weeks in hospital, and I have told her about this place and she really wanted to come. First of all, when my husband went around to let the girl know that we were sitting on the balcony she made a big point about we should’ve let her know. Which was what he was doing at that moment. I wasn’t going to make my 85-year-old mother with a walker walk all the way around to the ‘wait until sested dpot’ and then back around to the balcony. Then her manner was quite abrupt when she took our order. I asked for a latte in a mug and she told me they come in a glass and I said they have always done a mug for me, and she just seemed a bit put out by that. I also asked if she could just turn the music down a tad because my mother is a bit deaf, and would have trouble hearing. This did not happen. My mother had two pieces of toast, and the butter she received was not adequate enough to cover two pieces of toast. Service was a little bit unfriendly.
On a positive, the smoothie was delicious and the coffee was superb and it did come in a mug. Unfortunately, my mother left saying that she will never come back there again because of the unfriendliness....
Read moreLocals of the area might be familiar with the owners of this cafe because they are the owners of their sister cafe "Cafe 2773".
The house which is now the cafe was once the Emu Plains Police Station residence which opened in 1908. Laughin' Boy Cafe has restored the residence and transformed it into a beautiful cafe over looking the Nepean River.
Laughin' Boy Cafe has a lovely extensive menu which caters for everyone, they even have a great kids menu as well.
We ordered
PORK BELLY SALAD - twice cooked pork belly, crispy fried haloumi, yuzu infused apple, lettuce, cherry tomato, green beans, macadamia nuts, pomegranate, fig balsamic.
PORK BELLY BENEDICT - slow cooked pork belly, Yuzu compressed apple, poached eggs, bacon crumb, hollandaise foam and toasted sourdough
I do not normally order salad, but I was so intrigued by the description of the salad, that I decided to order it. The Pork Belly Salad blew me away, first off the serving size was incredibly generous with lots of tender pork belly and halloumi and then the taste of salad was so delicious. Every component of the salad worked incredibly well together, especially the yuzu infused apple which provided a nice balance of flavours to the salad. This Pork Belly Salad is undoubtedly one of the best salads that over ever eaten.
My friend really loved her Pork Belly Benedict as well, she said it was so delicious. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection.
I'm really impressed with Laughin' Boy Cafe, even though they were just newly opened, the service was amazing and very efficient. The staff are so lovely.
The entrance to the cafe is on the side facing of the building across from the Nepean River. Laughin' Boy Cafe have limited parking on site, you enter the carpark as soon as you turn into River Road. Laughin' Boy Cafe have the option of sitting on the balcony over looking the Nepean River or...
Read moreMe and my partner came here on Sunday ant 1:30pm and had asked for an outside table as we had our dachshund with us, we were told that it would be a 10 minute wait and we were agreeable to this. The lady then took down our contact details with whilst glaring at us and giving us rude tone. We then came back 20 minutes later without being contacted and there were 2 outside table free. We asked the same lady who then shrugged her shoulders. Me and my partner were disappointed and asked if there was a takeaway coffee menu in which she pointed out of the restaurant. My partner then asked if it was still within the restaurant chain/name, she then told us to “just look and follow the trail”.. we then proceeded and saw her serving another customer who had no wait time/reservation to the outside tables. We are very disappointed as we felt racially profiled/unfairly treated. Would not recommend.
Note: I have just seen the response given by this restaurant saying that this review is not “credible” due to me and my partners feelings of being racially profiled. As we walked in from the start, we were met with glares and had not been greeted. We saw other guests being served/greeted while they walked straight passed us. I’m wondering how this is acceptable and if my feelings of being “racially profiled” can be belittled just because it’s 2025? We had multiple waitresses simply walk pass us while glaring? I’m wondering how this restaurant owner can provide a response saying that they did not remember us being there? We have photos of the outside of the restaurants as we were excited to try the food - but now seeing the response from the restaurant owner makes me even more disappointed. We had also 100% provided our details down for a table, so it is best to actually check rather than defend yourselves online because it’s 2025 right?...
