The Log Cabin is a newly opened venue that has a long and vivid history in Penrith. We visited during the week for dinner and even though it was a weeknight it was alive with activity. The venue is well positioned on the river, clean inside and family friendly. There is a children’s playground in the patio with a large tv for the adults to watch the latest sports game. There is Alfresco dining on the deck over looking the the river with tables, high bars and also lounges inside for seating. Upstairs is a function room and also a fine dining restaurant. We went to try the pub food. Ordering can be done at the bar or also from the QR code at the table. We tried the QR Code. Simple to use and easy to order with photos of the meal to help you decide. Drinks are ordered at the bar which is a large bar that has multiple staff to serve so not much wait time for drinks. The meals are delivered to your table by the waitstaff. The meals were delivered scattered as they were ready which was a bit of an inconvenience as we were a group of 5 wanting to eat together. However it was only a few minutes in between the meals coming out. The food was fresh, tasty and in plenty. This is definitely pub food done right but a bit more sophisticated then a typical pub. Would recommend for a visit for larger groups or a family with kids as the playground looks amazing. If you are a couple try and book a table on the deck by the river watching the sunset.

A newly opened venue that understands the importance of good, timely service. On both my visits, I have entered with trepidation as the crowds have been enormous - and both times, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with good food, served with a smile. If you know what to expect, you won’t be disappointed, so here goes: Good views of the Nepean River A great playground for the kids - if you’re lucky enough to grab a table to be close enough to supervise - as I write this, I’m seated at a table right next to the play area, in the sun. Glorious, Not a single table free in the entire place - drinks arrived promptly, and food shortly after. In comparison to the competition across the river, this is refreshing. This is not fine-dining. It’s GOOD, honest bistro food. It’s not pretentious in any way - just good food, presented with a smile. Live music is piped throughout the venue - makes for a pleasant vibe. If you’re into sport, look no further than the outside bar - there’s a TV that I’m sure can be seen from space. Coffee wasn’t bad on my first visit - not amazing, but you’re not in a hipster cafe. Don’t treat it like that. Loads of potential here. Looks like a great place for a function.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this beautiful riverside spot, and it was an experience worth sharing. The atmosphere was perfect—sunshine sparkling off the water, a gentle breeze, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe that made it feel like the ideal place to unwind. We ordered the Meatlovers Pizza and the Spicy Horizon with chips, and both dishes were outstanding. The Meatlovers Pizza was generous and satisfying, loaded with perfectly cooked meats that blended together with just the right balance of smokiness and flavor. The crust had that perfect crunch on the outside while staying soft inside—clearly made with care. The Spicy Horizon with chips was just as impressive. The spice had a bold kick without being overpowering, and every bite was packed with flavor. Paired with the crispy, golden chips, it was a dish that hit all the right notes. Between the stunning riverside setting, the sunshine, and the delicious food, this place always delivers the most memorable dining experiences. Highly recommend!

Never in all my years of going to pubs and clubs have I ever had the pleasure of a security guard actively and aggressively knock on women's toilet doors, with responses from the women in the stall and still jumping up on the toilet lid in the stall next to that person she is intruding in on. I confronted Management to only tell me that they are well within their legal right to do so. I don't believe this is true, if she didn't respond then I would understand. As soon as my friend went in at a later time that night this security guard knocked on her door just as she literally just went inside the toilet & closed the door, I doubt she was even sitting on the seat by the time this ninja door knocker strikes. My friend responded “Yeah!” LOUDLY. The security guard knocked a second time, now that’s just downright abuse of power and instigating. If you get an answer the first time don’t knock a second. Management said that I am making "BIG accusations" he said that her feet was facing the bowl of the toilet and as thats not the way female goto the toilet, they suspected drug use. That drug use is very high at their venue. (sorry to say, but I believe its everywhere, not just your venue mate!) That he's doing every means necessary to ensure it is stopped. He needs to be way more realistic. The way he is going about it, is now tarnishing the log cabin. Drugs unfortunately is an outstanding issue with many clubs/pubs, you cannot fully nip it in the butt. However you must give the customers their privacy, bathrooms are off limits when they have responded to you the FIRST time, if this continues you may as well pee with the door open?! Or better yet just put cameras over the top of the toilets?!. I too had the asked the male Security guard what he thought about the whole situation as he was always very friendly to my friend, especially when he worked at duck duck goose. His whole demeanour changed, he went from 0-100. Real nasty, saying “I was annoying him now” grinding teeth as if I were a guy I’d properly be dragged outta there. Saying he’s “going to back his staff!” that I don’t know what it’s like to do their job, I don’t have to deal with the amount of o’ding patrons. That male security guards are allowed to walk in to a woman’s bathroom if they believe a female may be o’ding in the toilets, that if they don’t respond they have every right to walk in as a duty of care? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Having your feet facing the toilet does not automatically make you a drug taker. There could be many personal reasons for this. Being told I’m just making assumptions by bringing this to them is such a cop out. I had enough for the night, especially with the female security guard being warned right in front of me, by another security guard, being physically pointed at, that I was ratting on her to management, caused her to watch and try to intimidate me all night. I then witnessed another guy being kicked out. He was calm, he was rational and wasn’t disorderly. He was complying, he asked why he was being kicked out and the security was being hostile, he kept asking what he did wrong, as he didn’t understand. They told him “they didn’t need to give him a reason!”. They kept physically pushing this man, touching him, toward the carpark. Trying to get a spark out of this guy. He said he just wanted to know what he did wrong, so he knew for next time. Valid question, again apparently didn’t require a response, nor was warranted. Log cabin, since you have taken on the choice of the management, that you selected to run your venue and the security company you have chosen to look after your guests, is 100% a downhill decision, this will be your down fall. you will become undone, another pub/club that closes its door due to staffing issues, loss of hospitality and consumers. Unfortunately another statistic of the Western...

Ok, so we booked this place because i've always seen it from the outside and it's looked nice. It was my birthday so we agreed on doing something new.

So we arrive, the counter at the front has nobody... so we awkwardly walk around trying to figure out how to claim our reservation and we have to find a random server to book us in.

We order drinks and food, cocktails were fine but the Canadian Club dry that I had later tasted like it had been watered down which for $15 a pint seemed ridiculous but I could be wrong or they just don't know how to mix it right.

Food... portion sizes are huge, which sounds great but does send alarm bells off in my head because the food itself screams "quantity over quality"

The fried chicken sides, had no flavour to them at all. You got a lot but honestly, if you're going to charge $24.00 maybe the kitchen needs to learn how to actually season fried chicken. Also your spicy mayo tasted store bought which is fine for most places but the prices here... you honestly expect more.

Smoked eggplant dip was pretty much a bit of sauce with 5 huges slices of bread. $15.00 for again... something that is just so underwhelming. It's a shame because the dip was actually really nice but nowhere near enough to go around. How do you charge $15.00 and barely give us dip?

My fiancee got the Parmi, now look nobody is expecting anything amazing but for $28.00 we just expect you to season food. The chips tasted like what you can buy for cheap at Woolies and I don't get how you can have chicken, ham, mariara sauce and cheese yet STILL somehow manage to have it be bland.

I ordered just the Buttermilk Schnitzel whichy was $26.00. Again unseasoned chicken, unseasoned chips and both mine and hers were with gravy which tasted like they came from some instant packet. Also with how think the crust was, noway that was buttermilk. I can use egg, seasoned flour and breadcrumbs at home and get a better result.

The worst part was, you pay all this and you get this knockoff level of quality and it arrives cold! why? because the servers just stand around apparently allergic to doing their job, a pizza was waiting at the stand for about 10 minutes before a server standing nearby thought it might be worth his time to bring it over.

Like... at the very least the food should come out hot, I think for the cost you're charging customers that's the least you can do when serving this food.

Honestly, the fact you guys are around the corner from places like O'Donoghues, Tattersalls and Emu Hall yet still somehow get customers with your price and quality astounds me.

But key tip to the managers there. Salt & Pepper, it's amazing stuff!

Seriously, I am pretty sure the chips...

Updated again - Wed 11th June 2025, went for lunch, I have to say at least they are consistent, my wife loves to go for the selfies but every time she drags me there i am greatly disappointed, food extremely average and prices both food and beverage are above other establishments. Staff Forward thinking about possible customer needs are non existent. yet again I mist look like such a fat bugger that i eat 2 ordered items because every time I seem to get 1 set of Cutlery for 2 orders. very ordinary indeed. shouldn't have to ask them for a second set.

update-: Mothers Day 2024, stopped in for light food and a couple of drinks, front of house girl excellent, Bar staff slow and didn't seem to listen attentively to customer for requests regarding drinks ordered. Food came to the table with 2 dishes for 2 customers and one set of cutlery and no napkin if i chose to use my hands to eat. Had to get someone who would acknowledge me at counter before i could ask for cutlery. I find Log Cabin to be very hit and miss and not a consistent quality establishment.

Update-: Australia Day 2024, my score for food, service and overall rating has upgraded due to attending and seeing Australia embraced as a time all 270+ cultures come together to celebrate us as the diverse nation we are. Food-: great Staff-: excellent Improvement since my last visits however management dropped the ball when saying they were escalating but failed to contact.. I hope this upward trend of service continues so as i may one day get to 5 stars

Update-: Came back again and total failure again, I absolutely despise rum, I can even taste it on a not properly washed glass and sure enough order a bourbon and get a rum. FFS does anyone actually listen and do their job these days. call me old but these young people just don't cut the mustard.

2 out of 2 strikes

Previous review-: Booked well before the attendance for inside, hostess takes us to kids playground until i said i booked well in advance for inside. moved to inside bit then later asked to vacate before even finishing because the table was booked. Well so was mine. Very poor form on that point. Food - quality was good and it was delivered in a timely fashion however prices are well above what you would expect for a simple menu. Value - Been there done that it's nice but too expensive for what's provided Not sure that I would go any time soon if they don't honor bookings and want to kick you out...
