Melov Thai — Restaurant in Sydney

We just finished eating at the restaurant, and the staff asked us how the food was. At the time, we thought it was fine, but I don’t know why I started feeling nauseous and even wanted to vomit as soon as I got home. We ordered Tom Yum soup and fried rice. I drank a lot of the Tom Yum broth and ate the seafood in it. I’m not sure if there was something wrong with the soup ingredients or the seafood. I’m feeling really uncomfortable right now. Tom Yum soup is something I often order at many Thai restaurants, and this is the first time I’ve had such a reaction.

We asked the staff if the soup contained crab, and we were told that it didn’t, so my husband felt safe to eat it, though he ate very little. Have been ordering and dining in for years now, usually service and food is amazing and keeps us coming back but cannot say the same about tonights experience. We were told there was a 35 minute delay for pick up which we were fine with considering we knew the quality of the food was worth it. However, 35 minutes later our food was still not ready. It wasn’t until 30 minutes on top of that, bringing it to an hour and 5 minutes our food was ready. For that length of time you would expect food to be hot and fresh, all our fried food (calamari/crispy chicken) was sitting on a bench going soggy and cold. When we tried it, the calamari was tough and textured like jerky [Attached photo]. Our “crispy” cashew chicken was 10% percent chicken, 5 percent cashew, 85% vegetable, and was soggy. We visited tonight 22 Oct 2023 at 7:25 pm and ordered our meals at the same time. At 7:45 pm, I started to see a table of 10 and a table of 4 that ordered after us start getting their meals. I kept staring at both the waitresses to try and signal to them why these tables are getting their meals first when we ordered way before them. At 7:55 pm, the waitress came to us to confirm our order again and explained that she had not put our order through the register. At 8:05 pm, I continued seeing two takeaway orders that were ordered after us being completed. At this stage, we decided to leave. We’ve had a long exhausting work week and hadn’t eaten since breakfast and really wanted to enjoy ourselves with some good Thai.
