Discriminatory and Unwelcoming!!!!
I am deeply disappointed by the discriminatory behaviour I witnessed at ‘The Lobby cafe’ by “the boss“, Maria. We came to the cafe with a group of my students with Autism. My colleagues, students and I were treated with utter disregard and intolerance during our recent visit.
Upon entering the cafe, we immediately were met with stares and disapproving glances while some of our students were stimming.
We ordered over $45 worth of food and coffees that we waited far too long for. Then were told to “make sure you all push the chairs back under the tables and clean up for yourselves before you leave” in a very rude manner. She went on to ask “why would you come here?”. Maria was so horrible to us and I don’t understand why. Many other things were said about my students and our presence which I was applaud by. Her intolerance for neurodivergence was insulting.
We were the only customers and yet the atmosphere was unwelcoming and tense, making us feel like unwelcome customers.
This kind of attitude towards individuals with autism is not only hurtful but completely unacceptable in any establishment that claims to be inclusive and community-oriented.
I urge Maria to educate herself on customer service etiquette and learn how to interact with and accommodate individuals with disabilities. Every person deserves to feel safe and respected when dining out in the community, regardless of their abilities.
Our school will not be returning to the cafe and will actively discourage others from patronising in an establishment that fails to uphold basic principles of respect and...
Read moreToday my family and I were guess at Le montage for a formal event. The reception and staff within the venue were phenomenal and the food was 10 out of 10 . As guests of the venue, we decided to use the guest parking in which we were let in by one of the workers at the gate. As my family and I go to park our car in the car park, a young brunette female from the lobby cafe sprinted in front of our car whilst we were driving in an attempt to stop our car from moving . She then proceeded to say that we were not allowed to park in the car park causing a massive scene and in which she completely embarrassed herself in front of all the customers at the cafe because we’re clearing guests at the reception . This was extremely dangerous as she could’ve been hurt or hurt someone else and not to mention so stupid. She completely harassed us and was extremely unprofessional. I suggest in the future you hire workers with A LOTTTTT more professionalism...
Read moreI recently visited this cafe with 3 other adults and my class of 5 disabled students. Upon arrival each staff member ordered something from the cafe. The students were enjoying their time in the cafe. When I approached the cafe after 20 minutes to ask about my sandwich it was not toasted yet and I stated I had ordered it 20 minutes ago. The worker said “and” for a response- which was highly inappropriate particularly as I was with my students. After this when we asked about the rudeness another worker stated it was due to us coming to the cafe and not tucking in our chairs. We then explained our work and they said “it doesn’t take much to tuck your chairs in”- the whole experience was rude, disappointing and quite intolerant. I will not be visiting again, and will be letting many other schools and companies know of the...
