The Local Press Lilyfield — Restaurant in Sydney

Last Saturday I visited the Press and chose the hamburger. I was amazed at the quality of the ingredients and the recipe. The owner (a very fine chap) explained to my friend (Kristy) and me how the meat is blended with various cuts of meat. Also, the sauce is homemade. I have consumed hamburgers all over the globe. The cafe is cleverly laid out so that it feels like a warehouse but is in fact cozy, including a massive coffee roaster. Friday at 2pm means most sandwich were sold out and almost all the sweet offerings by Penny Fours were gone! The specials board has some very interesting combinations and the coffees are in whichever way you like it. The lime chicken burger came with guacamole and corn chips INSIDE! So it really was a "nacho" burger, stacked up way high that the first bite was near impossible... We shall return for some brunch...

We dropped in for breakfast and left disappointed. The bacon and egg bun was fine - hard to mess that one up - but the chilli scrambled eggs were more like a squashed omelette with chilli oil on top. The real letdown was the coffee - honestly the worst we’ve had in a long time. The coffee in the photo was what I got delivered to the table - I hadn’t taken a single sip yet!
