I might have mentioned twice or thrice how much I enjoyed the dining atmospher to my partner as we sat out on the quiet street corner just a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Dowling and Oxford.
Originally came because I was intrigued by the photos of the Gangnam burger, but alas they haven’t served that bad boy in over two years. Not to worry, the tuna melt with an egg (+$3) thrown on for good measure was a fantastic consolation meal. The chili flakes and pickles complemented quite well—one of the best tuna melts I’ve had in the past two years!
Partner got the eggplant omelette which was surprisingly filling. The mozzarella mixed into the egg plus extra whipped feta on top made for a very savory serving that was difficult not to devour too quickly.
Both meals came with a side salad of mixed greens, possibly some rocket, and pickle shavings on top—not a fan of the extra pickles but my partner obliged.
We paired these with a matcha latte for her and a flat white for me. They serve Oatly here, for $1 extra, so we stuck with ol’ reliable dairy milk. Very well made on both fronts.
The outdoor seating (about 4-5 tables) made this place dog-friendly and since the street isn’t so busy I wasn’t too worried about our Buffy eating any rubbish off the floor. We were actually seated a table away from another puppy, very cute! A number of dogs out for a walk happened by so the sniff-and-greets were a-plenty. We rewarded Buffy for her patience as we ate by heading over to the nearby Moore Park West afterwards so she could run around off lead. So much room for activities!
Oh, but they never offered any water for...

$18 dollars for a sandwich and a cup of tea. Utterly outrageous! A big disappointment. This place will not last long.
I went here for a lone lunch on a weekday in July 2016. I noticed it had changed hands from when I last went here but I expected a reasonable bite and something to drink.
My suspicions that it had changed hands was the fact that the lighting was awful. It felt like an abattoir with cold white cheap lighting, and the cold blowing through the open doors. The waitress gave me a menu but failed to take my order. After 10 minutes I got up and asked a dish hand if I could have the chicken sandwich and a cup of tea.
It arrived the size of a door stop. Each slice of thick stodgy bread was about 25mm thick and I had to leave the top slice off and eat with the knife and fork given. Too messy by hand. This should have been toasted except that it was full of white goo and cabbage and a bit of chicken. I suppose the cup of tea was good.
What I do NOT accept is that this was worth $18. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS!
I can go around the corner to Berkelow's bookshop and have a proper toasted whatever and a generous glass of wine in a warm interesting place for $17!
You won't see me there again and I bet it won;t be there for long. Sadly. I do not write this with any joy but it...
Read moreWe went here on recommendation from an acquaintance. The place is lovely and has a great ambience and feeling. Nestled in a quiet residential area you could easily miss it and probably wouldn’t know it existed.
Menu is quite modern with some Asian fusion and vegan options. Coffee here is quite ok but the masala chai was a disappointment. I expect strong chai when someone says Masala chai, maybe that is the Indian in me. This one was weak as ;-)
The build your own breakfast was ok nothing special and it was made worse by the fact that by the time I got it, it was cold. So the egg was almost hard boiled and not the runny poached egg I was expecting. Bacon crispy and cold is ok but not crispy and cold is not ok.
Service was ok and the staff were nice but you could see they were run off their feet trying to keep up when it got busier.
I am sure I will be back here again one day and I hope the next...
