Bat + Bun — Restaurant in Sydney

Not a fan. Food was meagre, went to order a pho and was asked if I would like chilli and I said yes on the side please, with beansprouts and basil (like it usually comes served). Was told they don't do on the side, it all comes together. I realised immediately it was THAT type of pho which is for Western palate and immediately changed my order to a wrap. Saw the phos come out and they were in the most shallow bowl, you could see the bottom of the bowl from the top. I like my phos steaming, bottomless and and piled high with toppings so this is not my type of pho at all.

Wrap was ok but disappointing how they are not flexible and couldn't make a vegan substitution when the only veggie offering was veg and cheese.

Next time I'd rather try the sandwich place next door which was heaving with lines, heavenly smells and ginormous...

I have never experienced such disappointment in a dining establishment. Bat + Bun is a black hole of culinary creativity, where flavor goes to die. The buns were stale and tasteless, as if they had been sitting out for days. The fillings were an insult to my taste buds; bland, uninspired, and lacking any discernible seasoning or texture. The service was equally lackluster, with disinterested staff who seemed to resent having to interact with customers. The ambiance was non-existent, resembling a dingy basement rather than a trendy eatery. Save your money and your taste buds; Bat + Bun is a culinary wasteland not worth your time or hard-earned cash. One of the employees even had the audacity to swear at us while ordering on the phone, also when ordering was disappointed as they didn't have a bat bun or...

We were walking past the place, saw the queue and thought it was worth a shot. We dined in and ordered the following; Lemongrass chicken on a baguette, only its not a baguette its just a bread roll, tasted OK though. Lemongrass chicken with noodles (Pho) only they not the right noodles for a Pho, they were just the cheap generic noodles and there was not much of the noodles. Lemongrass chicken with rice, the rice was old and hard (basically inedible) , went to the counter to see if we could get some fresh rice, but was told that was the only rice they had and staff had no interest in rectifying the issue and no apology etc. Would I dine there...
