Customer service - 0/5*
I want to place a complaint against one of the guys in entrance in North Ryde RSL, his name is Dale.
I went there at 11:10am today, i did not have my driver’s licence on me but my passport, they said i could not enter with my passport. To do all the check ins it was already 1130am, So i told my friend to go up and watch the UFC match (as we thought it was from 11am to 1145) and we had 15 mins left so we could wait outside.
I was sitting on the sofa wearing the mask, in 3 mins or less, the staff named “Dale” came and said “How long are you going to be here?” I said “20mins”. He said “You can’t be sitting here forever, the main match doesn't start till 4:00pm. I told them i don't have my phone how will i call my friend and I’m hust going to be here 20 mins not 4 hours, who waits for 4 hours, he mentioned i cant sit there will my passport
Well is that a way to handle the customer? Did i tell him i was going to be there till 4? What sort of language is “you cant wait here forever”. This is extremely unacceptable. I am an australian citizen. I am an educated person, i work in a very renowned organisation, i come from a good family, I won’t accept this behaviour. I think the behaviour was extremely rude and found the guy extremely racist.
He would never speak to a white person like that, this is racism and discrimination and i think north ryde RSL should definitely teach their staff how to behave with customers. I worked in customer service for 5 years i know how to behave with customers, when i came back at 2pm with my licence, he said “i know you are upset but my manager thought i handled it nicely”.
Really? As a customer i didnt think he was nice when he kicked me out. I definitely think staff like Dale should be taught how to behave with customers and not be racist with them and not say “you cant stay here forever”
I hope north ryde rsl will take this feedback and tell him that customer feedback is main and behaving nicely with them is part of his job, so he should be more kind and...

North Ryde RSL is a large, family and community friendly venue that prioritises comfort and people over pretence (it isn't all about the casino like some places!). The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the club's footprint is expansive—especially when you include the adjacent Youth Club.
Membership If you’re planning to visit—even occasionally—consider becoming a member. The small investment of around $5ish quickly pays off through discounts and benefits across the club. It’s worth it.
Food Options
Marble Café: Offers a limited but on point menu ideal for light meals and coffee. A bar is located next to it for alcoholic and soft drinks. (Tip: there’s a pie warmer if you're after a meat pie.) Prices are very reasonable, particularly for members (get the membership!)
Riverviews Restaurant: A solid option for larger meals. The updated menu has improved the quality, though prices have bumped up a little accordingly (member discount applies). It remains a relaxed, family-friendly space with an outdoor smoking area. Member discounts are generous (you got the membership right?)
House of Tong: A standout feature of the club. The menu includes all the classic Chinese dishes you'd expect, with generous portion sizes. Yum Cha is particularly good—on par with any of the venues in nearby Chatswood.
Parking Excellent. Free and plentiful, including undercover parking. Access the parking station via Pittwater Road or use above-ground parking from Magdala Road.
Kids The Tribal Zone is an unsupervised kids’ play area with outstanding facilities—free of charge.
Events For event or function hire, the club offers excellent value. Beata the amazing staff member here is professional, helpful, and...
Read moreWhat is this ID nightmare COVID has created? Need a licence.... Don't have a licence... Need photo ID.... Bring passport... Passport shows no address so not accepted. The reason I don't carry my licence is the result of technology meaning I don't need a wallet and that's hugely convenient. But a bigger, more recent reason is COVID. Tapping a phone to pay everywhere is far more hygienic than handling a licence (and other cards) another human hand has touched. Far more hygienic. But blaming the staff for doing their bosses bidding is like blaming the Washington police for doing Trump's bidding in the recent White House riots. So I give four stars for the North Ryde RSL's staff. Would it be such an issue though if the powers that be relaxed their draconian rules until the COVID crisis passes? Business has been down these last 12'months (also business owner) and the RSL might get a little more business if they weren't so strict. The solution to our issue involved my annoyed wife being forced to join and then given the paltry offer of 10% discount throughout the RSL - except for in the Chinese Restaurant WHICH WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE HAD DRIVEN OUT TO NORTH RYDE! If House of Tong is not associated with North Ryde RSL in regard to providing membership discounts then WHAT IS THE POINT OF SIGNING IN? The restaurant was fantastic, the food exemplary, the service top notch but I don't understand why bureaucracy needs to get involved. Either relax your rules, dissociate your two businesses or give me my 10...
