I have been living in Australia for 11 years. And all these years I have never written a review on the places where I eat food. I am not proud of this nor am I trying to be smart or anything. if I don’t like any place, I just don’t go there again. But this time I felt so bad I could not sleep in the night on that day. I can’t even describe how bad my experience was. I went there around 5 p.m. to attend the beer festival. I had a nice time at the festival. But after 6 pm when the festival was finished, we went inside the pub to have one or two beers and food with my wife, two kids and my friends’ family. My friend and I went to get our first beer and the bartender was so rude. He asked us to get in the queue even though we were already in the queue for no reason. Other customers had to intervene to tell him that we were in fact in the queue. This time we did not say anything and went to our table and had our drinks. Then we went again to have our second beer. When our turn came, we ordered two beers, and the same guy started pouring the wrong beer purposely and then he emptied the glass and started pouring the beer we asked for. So, we asked him politely to change the glass and told his manager that he was doing this purposely to annoy us. Now this time manager took us to the side and started watching the cameras to prove he had not done anything like that.. he saw the cameras and fast forward mode and we asked to keep playing in normal mode and then out of nowhere he took our glass and asked us to leave the pub. He and his security guard started to push us out of the pub even though he knew we were there with kids and not even drunk. I mean how can we drink we only had one beer and very little at a beer festival. My friend’s family left the pub and asked them to give money back for the beer he had taken from us. He refused to give us our money back. I felt the manager and the staff were rude and racist to us. Sorry for this big message but I wanted to tell everyone there are lots of other pubs in Penrith so go there instead of this one unless you want to get abused and ill-treated by their staff. I would have given this place a zero star if I could.. maybe the pub owner should look into hiring the...
Read moreAttended work xmas party here last night. Decided to give O’D’s another go after a bad experience a couple of years ago when every single table was reserved inside and out before dinner (what kind of pub doesn’t account for walk-ins?!). Food & drinks were decently priced (though limited on-tap options, food was average). Husband’s meal (medium rare steak) was forgotten after everyone else’s meal came out - he had to go ask and they then conveniently “found” the ticket even though my food had come out and was eaten by this point. Seemed like a good family atmosphere to begin with.
Then the entire outdoor dining area got kicked off their tables by 9 to clear a dance floor for an event that supposedly started at 8. I don’t even think our group of 30+ was informed at the time of booking this would happen! Everyone pushed into the rain. The tables with umbrellas were obviously down to stop people sitting in the lawn area. Then security started telling the groups standing they would have to go inside (and sit where?!) or leave. I assume because then we would be in the vicinity of the “event” without having paid the entry fee, but it just seems like poor planning, as surely you realised then that all of these tables you reserved out would only give you a couple of hours worth of income?
Decided to leave just before 10 and the event still hadn’t started and most groups that had been dining left. Far more people than those who seemed to be waiting for the niche event to start. You lost plenty of money from all the groups who would have been happy to spend another few hours eating, drinking and listening to the music. Fine if you want to do events/theme nights. But maybe plan seating around a smaller dance floor rather than kick everyone out. I remember nights it used to be liked that 15 years ago.
It seems the owners are confused about what kind of establishment they want this to be. Maybe you need to rebrand as a night club instead of pretending to be an Irish pub. I certainly won’t be back. Much better times to be had at Peachy and Panthers. I’d even rather the Bowlo or Rowing...
Read moreWe made a booking online. When we arrived and asked to be seated, we were told to sit wherever we like as "it's not busy tonight." Then, after we had ordered and our 3 year olds food had come out (quite a bit earlier than mine and my husbands food), a waitress came along and added an extra table to ours and informed us that a party that had booked would be there in 40 mins. The whole experience was strange. I let her know that we had booked and asked where our allocated seats were, she went and checked and told us that they were at the stool seats on the balcony, despite asking for a high chair, which wouldn't have reached the high tables.
Nonetheless, the high chairs couldn't be used because they were disgusting and covered in food. The tables too were sticky.
Staff were friendly though, there were lots of big TVs with different games on them, and there appeared to be a ton of space.
My husband enjoyed his burger. I got the chicken, potatoes, and brocolini. The chicken was dry and overcooked, but the sauce on top was super tasty, as were the potatos and brocolini. Both my sons nugget meal and my husbands burger meal were quite stingy on the chips, which were easily countable in their meals.
The play equipment was a nice surprise as we weren't aware that it was there. But not really enticing enough for us to want to rush back there.
Around $75 for two adult meals and a kids' meal, without drinks. The kids' meal did come with an apple...
