Social/consumer racism!
0/5 rating. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I definitely won't be returning.
But if you do visit here... For anyone with ethnic names, if you want to get your moneyโs worth, place an order using a Caucasian name. You will receive better service, such as 2-3x more for your add-ons (these cost additional $).
The people before me ordered the peanut butter add-on, and received an amount that seemed like decent value for money, which enticed me to also purchase this. I received maybe 1-1.5 tbps, compared to what looked like at least 3 tbsps the earlier customers received.
Then, 2 other people, who had Caucasian names (my friends), made the same order and both received significantly more peanut butter than me, similar amounts to the people before me.
Intentional or not, this service is an example of social/consumer racism. For what we call a โmulticulturalโ country, and in such a high volume tourist area, it is really disappointing to see such discriminatory service, which generally would go unnoticed as it is subtle, requires keen observation and multiple cases for comparison.
Perhaps, it is unfair of me to blame the establishment for the actions of one or so employees. But, the establishment is responsible for the hiring, and their employees are effectively a reflection of them.
In case management would like to investigate and provide training to staff on how to provide fair service, the date of this purchase was Sunday 19th November 2023, around...
ย ย ย Read moreIโve been a long time customer since you first opened. I still remember my very first mouthful of acai, handed out by the kind owner (his name escapes me now), and I was instantly wowed. Ever since, Iโve made it a ritual to stop by whenever I visit Bondi.
In the early days, the staff were always so warm and engaging, which made the experience extra special. Sadly, something seems to have changed. I havenโt had a cheerful interaction with the team in quite some time.
This morning, the girl who served me gave off a strong โcanโt-be-botheredโ vibe, which left the experience feeling unpleasant. For the sake of keeping my days harmonious, Iโll be heading to YoChi around the corner insteadโit has a friendlier atmosphere and consistently lovely customer service.
Itโs such a shame, because your acai is still great and definitely worth the money, but not enough to outweigh the lack of warmth from staff. Iโm sure Iโm not the only one who feels this way. I truly hope you can bring back the original reputation...
ย ย ย Read moreI specifically requested a granola with no peanuts and asked for almond butter instead of peanut butter, as my boyfriend has a severe peanut allergy. Despite clearly communicating this, we later discovered that the item contained peanut butter, which led to a serious allergic reaction requiring immediate medical attention.
This was not a simple oversightโit was a dangerous error that could have had life-threatening consequences. My friend returned to the store to inform the staff of what had happened, hoping to make them aware of the gravity of the situation. Unfortunately, the response from the staff was dismissive and showed no concern, remorse, or understanding of the seriousness of food allergies.
This lack of accountability and empathy is not only unprofessional, it is unacceptable. Allergies are a matter of health and safety, not preference. Your staff should be trained to take these matters seriously and follow instructions diligently when a customer flags a...
