Been regular at this Rashays for 6 years since moving into the area as it was great for families but have been saddened to watch its quality decline year on year.
Food - Now almost all microwaved and not prepared on site which you can taste, sadly price does not reflect the low effort that goes into the food. Years ago a lot more was made in the store which would take longer but was much higher quality. Would describe it as pub food quality at best for restaurant prices. The menu is always highly unstable and seems to be re-done every 2 months or so with range and prices changing randomly and unexpectedly.
Service - Again, something that has declined almost every year since I've been a customer. Used to hand out kids colouring in packs (stopped), used to be greeted and escorted to tables (now just told sit wherever you'd like), servers aren't familiar with menu and make multiple errors, tips thrown in your face at payment (FYI great service is how you earn tips...), push to order yourself from QR menus (which you have to pay additional for). We used to joke and have fun with the wait staff - now they really don't seem to want to be there and I feel the staffs phones get more of a workout than their hands. Seems common reading feedback on this page - surprised no action has been taken on this as service was always what kept us coming back. I know Rami the owner loves putting his face everywhere like a celebrity but found the stores never seem to know any promotions that Rami or Rashays were having. For example, we dined three times over Rashay's recent Golden Ticket promotion but were never offered any chocolates and when asked was advised "we aren't doing that here" despite a large cardboard cutout of the promotion at the entrance.
Atmosphere - Nothing has changed in this venue in years but it has held up well - bright, plenty of indoor\outdoor seating, events for the Muslim festivals, etc. Has a nice ambience when busy, feels lonely when quiet as it is quite large. The cleanliness of the restaurant has been declining over the years with both tables, chairs and the plates\cutlery being dirty on occasion which is concerning and dissapointing.
Overall - As stated, been a regular customer of Rashays for years and 5 years ago was a strong advocate for the brand having been to many sites around Australia with Punchbowl being our local. Unfortunately watching the prices continue to rise as the quality, service and overall experience continues to decline it saddens me that I can no longer recommend Rashay's and have moved from attending fortnightly to once every 2-3 months. Judging by the attendance of the Punchbowl store the past 6 months or so I don't think I can be the only customer feeling this way as its rare to see more than another 2-3 tables in use at any time, especially at lunch.
I really genuinely want Rashay's to improve and return to its glory days as they had a sweet spot in the market where they thrived and my family enjoyed it. Sadly perhaps they have now grown too big, too fast which has ruined the position...
Read moreEvery year we come with the family to Rashay's Punchbowl for our annual visit when we come from Melbourne.
Tonight was just atrocious.
First of all, we were seated, we chose a table that had plates from the last group, so we were 5 people, we opted for a booth. My sister approached one of the staff and asked if someone can clean the table, the server she had asked had rolled her eyes as she said she'd get someone to clean it.
I then had to flag down a server to ask for a menu, despite us being seated for 10+ minutes at this point, and even after the table was cleaned.
Food was ordered. Several items were out. Fine, no problem. We ordered alternative items. Our entrees came out, our mains came out - and they got the order wrong, or ran out of the alternatives when I asked. We asked for chips and steamed veggies as alternatives to mash. We ordered 3 steaks. All 3 steaks came with chips and garden salad, so when I raised it, I was told they had run out of streamed veggies. As opposed to assuming what to replace our sides with, they could have informed us and given us the option to choose something else.
Now, the next thing to go wrong, one of our steaks was well done, when we specifically asked for medium for all of them. The well done steak was returned. We waited and the family had finished their food, and by this point we were extremely fed up, so we got up to leave and asked to cancel that 3rd steak, as the server went away and as we were walked to the counter to pay, the food was brought out - so they asked if we wanted it, so we said just to pack it because we just wanted to leave.
Upon payment, I expressed my dissatisfaction about the assumed sides and the steak not cooked to our liking and how we were leaving due to taking way too long to replace, all the server did was apologise and didn't even bother to try and comp us the assumption, inconvenience and delay. The one girl I did feel bad for, was the urban/black girl, who was the politest one of all, who did her best to keep up.
To add to all that, the quality was subpar and definitely not worth our money. We also had requested additional serviettes numerous times and did not get them.
Honestly, tonight was just disgusting. After coming year after year, this year was the worst. You can see our review from 4 years ago vs this review. We won't be coming back after tonight. Should have spent our money elsewhere, which would have cost much less and with much...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Rashay's restaurant with three of my friends, and I must say, our experience was nothing short of excellent. From the warm and inviting atmosphere to the attentive staff, it was a memorable lunch that satisfied us all.
The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by friendly smiles and promptly seated at a cozy table. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing meal with friends, balancing modern elegance and a welcoming vibe. The restaurant's attention to detail in decor and lighting created a delightful setting.
The service was outstanding throughout our visit. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and ensured we had everything we needed. From offering insightful recommendations to promptly refilling our water glasses, they enhanced our overall dining experience. The staff's professionalism and friendliness were commendable.
Now, let's talk about the highlight of our visit—the food. Each dish we ordered was prepared with evident skill and passion. The flavors were exceptional, and the presentation was visually appealing. From the appetizers, every bite was a delightful explosion of taste. The chef's expertise and creativity were evident in every dish we tried.
However, I must mention one small oversight that prevented our experience from being perfect. As one of my friends follows a gluten-free diet, we were disappointed that no options were available. It would be wonderful if Rashay's could consider incorporating gluten-free alternatives to cater to a broader range of dietary preferences and restrictions.
Despite this minor setback, our overall experience at Rashay's restaurant was exceptional. The warm atmosphere, attentive service, and delectable cuisine made it genuinely memorable. I highly recommend Rashi's to anyone seeking a culinary journey that delights the senses. With a diverse menu that accommodates different dietary needs, Rashay's has the potential to become an even more inclusive dining destination.
Thank you to the talented staff at Rashay's for creating such an enjoyable experience. We look forward to visiting again...
