Friends 70th birthday. First time visiting the restaurant and due to multiple dietary medical issues for my wife and I we were a bit apprehensive when we checked out the Website and menu. A few phone calls and email later we were assured it would not be an issue.
Doors opened at midday and we all entered a very clean, tidy and nice looking restaurant were seated quickly to wait for the birthday girl to arrive for her surprise lunch party.
The arrival went well and we were soon down to the food selection. A set menu had been chosen but we were attended by Tara who advised we could select as we wished from the entire menu and the chefs would happily accommodate our needs. Tara took time to check with the chefs and to ensure that nothing was missed from our list.
We chose a variation of their prawn starter and both chose the eye fillet steak.
As people's entree and ours came out we were delighted to see the plates were full. My prawns were expertly grilled, tasted great and the avocado rolled in sesame seeds and other goodies on other plates were enjoyed by everyone. Others had the zucchini tempura flowers and plates were cleaned.
My steak arrived, cooked to perfection, with chat potatoes and sweet potato chips and a red wine jus. The steak melted and its easy to forget how great a steak can be but I don't eat salt or pepper and the steak was mouthwatering. Chat potatoes were the best accompaniment.
Other guests ordered the pork belly with mashed potato, Broccoli and balsamic glaze and it was massive. Thick crispy crunchy crackling and perfectly prepared. It was wide, thick and juicy.
I cannot say enough about the level of customer service we received and Tara and all the staff were on point, welcomming, and are a big reason we will...
Read moreWas there for my birthday. We were served by Brooke who was great - really helpful and attentive. She thought we had one too many sides so we took her advice. It turned out to be be good advice but I’m sure the extra bowl of chips would have gone if it was there! Hahaha.
We got the burrata, which comes with a baguette, and a baguette which came with oil and butter. The bread was really nice. For me, I would say getting 2 baguettes is better than getting the burrata! We were hungry so I forgot to get photos.
For mains, I got the 400g lamb shoulder. It was great and for the size of the plate, was definitely the best value for money. Others got the eye fillet (cooked just right), and lamb backstrap (also lovely). For sides, we got the chips with aioli (a real winner), the thrice-cooked potatoes with rosemary aioli (fantastic), beetroot and pumpkin salad (needed more pumpkin but really nice), and broccolini (very nicely done).
One of our group got the barramundi and was disappointed by the size of the dish. It seemed smaller than the eye fillet. If you go to the restaurant, be sure to ask the wait staff about meal sizes since they are priced the same.
We got 3 desserts: the chocolate fondant (delicious), chocolate brownie (it was wolfed down), and the sticky date pudding (apparently it was ok).
The Rocksalt staff also graciously brought out a little something for my birthday too. It was unexpected and a really nice little bite.
The service was good and the place had a nice atmosphere. Looking around, people seemed happy with the food and service.
I would come back again. Thank you to the staff who contributed to this being a lovely birthday...
Read moreComing back from our date night, the drive home was all about just how amazing the food was. We came to Rocksalt for the 2 course $62 each menu. My partner started with Crab and Prawn linguini which was absolutely delicious and full of flavour with the linguini cooked so nicely. With the linguini we shared as part of our entree the Fried Middle Eastern Cauliflower Salad. This was rich in flavour, tasty and honestly a great portion size to share. For the mains I got the Red Curry BBQ Salmon which was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of heat in the curry sauce. The Bok Choy and Jasmine rice was a nice touch and gave added flavours to compliment the taste buds. My partner she got the eye fillet and I must say one of the best. So tender and cooked perfectly, that when we shared I could cut it with a butter knife. Our drinks were spot especially the Watermelon sour. The Mad Mango to was really refreshing which personally would recommend for anyone who doesn't have alcohol. Our desert of choice was the Rocamisu and the acronym we both came up with was OMG!!!! This had to be one of the best desserts we've ever had. Chocolatey, smooth and the mascarpone was an added compliment to what was a brilliant dessert. The service was spot on, we were served by Nick and he was friendly, considerate, attentive and most of all very knowledgeable. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Thank you for making this date night, one that we enjoyed so much that we can still taste the food as we speak 😁. Definitely will be back in the...
