Rocksia Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

Rocksia Hotel was an absolutely delightful experience, I came here with my mother as we were on the way home down in Princess Highway. We felt hungry and decided to come back here after remembering how good the food was!

There are a few little errors that I have encountered in this place, and that's why I decided to give this place an outstanding 4 stars.

As someone who hasn't been here in a while, I got a little lost to where the entrance was and got confused as there are roughly 3 big doors to the hotel. One was locked, which I assume is a private area, another was the sports bar, and the other was towards the pub. That's just a little minor error, but it's something to consider making obvious, in my opinion,

When it comes to ordering, the young waitress was very kind and friendly and I enjoyed her service however she seemed to have misunderstood my order as I ordered the Parmigiana but she put through a Regular Schnitzel, it's a mistake that can occur and I am not at all upset about that in any way, in fact when I went to pick-up the food she was extremely friendly and apologized for her mistake and I was once again very pleased with the server and food. The chef understood what happened and didn't even hesitate to make me a Parmigiana.

Unfortunately, what got me a little confused and upset was that the Parmigiana was not properly made. Any traditional Parmigiana is made with a schnitzel, and it is topped with Tomato Sauce, Ham, and Melted cheese. Unfortunately, the dish did not have the ham, which doesn't make it a Parmigiana and prevents me from having those extra flavours from the Ham. However, I was still very happy with the dish as it did taste delicious but not like a Parmigiana.

The mash potatoes were absolutely delightful, some of the best mash I have ever tasted in my life!

Same with the Veggies, I was extremely pleased with them, tasted much better than any other types of veggies I have ever consumed.

The steak my mother had was very good. She asked for it to be medium however it was made Medium rare, this is a common error made by chefs and that's why my mother ordered it medium to get it to the medium rare. Every chef considers medium rare and medium different, so I believe that it's fair for this to have happened! As anyone who loves Medium rare, I would order a medium to get the medium rare everyone loves!

The atmosphere was very delightful and I enjoyed my stay at the Rocksia Hotel! I would suggest slightly lowering the music as I did feel that I had to talk louder to be able to be heard.

Overall, this place was absolutely delightful. There are a few mistakes that are common, and that could easily be changed. The prices were quite high compared to what a pub would generally charge from my experience. We paid $65 for 2 dishes and a beer. Our family’s first and only experience with the Rocksia was terrible. They had a large sign on the Princes Highway which stated in big black letters: ”SUNDAY KIDS EAT FREE”.

We parked, got the kids out, walked through the rain and settled in (it was 2pm). We picked up the menu and saw that it said “SUNDAY AT THE ROCKSIA HOTAL KIDS EAT FREE” and then in smaller writing it said “FROM 5PM”. This was NOT what was advertised on the sign on the highway.

I spoke to the manager. She apologised but refused to honour the offer on the sign outside - even though it was clear in what it said and I told her that was the only reason we had stopped at the Rocksia. She said to me “I can’t give you a free meal”, even though that was exactly what was being offered to us and every other person who passed that sign on the Highway. I asked for details of the venue manager and saw her roll her eyes as she wrote his name on a piece of paper.

We left then and had our lunch down at the Banksia Hotel, where they provided exemplary customer service and great food. It was a totally different experience to the experience we had just had at the Rocksia.

I took the time to send a follow up email to the venue manager at the Rocksia the next day and didn’t even receive the courtesy of a reply. He obviously couldn't care less. Appalling customer service. We will...

Me and my partner go here quite often, they are always very good and the food is amazing specially two meals for the price of one. What a bargain!! However to get that exceptional price and food you need to go early as when it gets busy they can be quite unorganised. We were there once around 8 pm and kitchen looked busy and wait was around 45 minutes. We placed the order and were waiting for food about an hour and people were leaving and it was starting to get quiet. They had lots of food at running bench but no one to eat them. We were still waiting and the buzzer didn't go off. When my partner decided to go and check how long its gonna be after waiting for almost hour and 20 minutes. They had no idea what our order was, as they had lost the docket. We were hungry but we are not the kind of people who creates scene. Instead of offering us the food as soon as they could now they instead offered us refund and they did not even looked sorry for it. We have both worked in hospitality and we totally understand that these things can happen but being a little sympathetic towards customer is something they need to improve on.
