We had Himalaya Rockdale cater for one of our wedding reception events. Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience - with a shortage of food per person and food that was too spicy (as per even brown people levels) after them being told numerous times to make the food mild given the demographics of the guests.
I worked with Ehteshan on this, who is part of the owner family. In the lead up to the event, Ehteshan had assured me that the dishes we had specifically pointed out would be made mild, and that there would definitely be no shortage of food with regular, unlimited refills. He had also mentioned that he would be serving soft drinks, which would come at an extra charge - which I was fine with.
For this whole contract, we did not negotiate on price. We were quoted a cost and we stuck to it and paid extra for the delivery charge as it was far away. We paid a large up front deposit.
Unfortunately, our event had food come out that was incredibly spicy. Even for my mum who easily eats spicy food, it was too spicy, let alone for my guests not from a subcontinental background.
Next up, the food was just not enough. We catered for 110 guests, and we had at least 5 people cancel last minute - we didn't reduce the food headcount for this. Plus, at least 10 additional people later told me they dont eat much dinner. Even then, the food started to run out very early in the dinner service and people were left hungry. Key dishes that people go for, such as the butter chicken, ran out almost immediately. This was really terrible to see. My guests were not happy with the food at all.
There was also no drinks. It had become a tad ridiculous.
The only silver lining was that the dessert was nice.
We will never be catering with Himalaya Rockdale again. This was a terrible experience overall, with limited communication with Ehteshan in the lead up to the event as well - it was hard to catch a hold of him even after all the money we were paying for the service. We are not sure if Himalaya Rockdale is serious about catering to events, or if there are other things taking more of a priority for the owners.
We would encourage everyone considering Himalaya Rockdale to instead look for catering from Himalaya Granville - we used them for another reception and it was well catered, including having enough food and the attention to when we say "we need to...
Read moreOn a lazy Sunday evening, my wife and I decided to have dinner out.....again.so we drove to Rockdale and found an unassuming Pakistani Indian restaurant.
The Ambience and Internal feel: Very clean, beautifully furnished, decorated in a cultural way with finesse.
The Menu Book: I was not expecting much as most Indian restaurants have lost the authenticity of flavours and spices, but lo and behold the variety of food was vast. Usually, the menu book itself reflects much of the experience you are about to get. The menu books, one for food the other for beverage and dessert was very sophisticated in its binding, clean , no gravy stains. Well done.
The Food Ordered: Half Tandoori Chicken/Allu Nann/Keema Nann/Lamb something, can't remember, Kulfi/ Rosomalli and Dragon fruit cocktail or mocktail. Tandoori was very tender and not dry at all. Very delicious. The lamb was exquisite, no smell, authenticity at its peak, amazing taste. The Nanns, filled with well Spiced fillings, and as per previous reviews I read, NOT BURNT at all. The mocktails had a dry ice twist that enhanced the experience. Well done.
The Price : Compared to what we got, I have never said this, but they need to raise the prices, a bit.Ver affordable indeed.
Overall, value for money. 10/10 , Food was delicious, Service great, TOILETS were clean. Crowd, mainly Singaporean and Malaysian. Upstairs function Bangladeshi, and Uber eats and Menulog orders galore.
However, my small advice would be to change the commercial looking signboard which doesn't reflect the internal treasure.

Read moreI recently dined at this establishment and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I must admit that I am disappointed with the quality of service and the food.
Firstly, the Coca-Cola that was served to me in a glass was quite disappointing. The glass was filled mostly with ice cubes, leaving very little space for the actual drink. As the ice melted, the drink was diluted to the point where it tasted like water. This was definitely not the refreshing beverage I had hoped for.
Secondly, I ordered the butter chicken meal, and I must say that it was far from what I expected. The dish was overly sweet, which was quite unexpected for a savory dish like butter chicken. The excessive sweetness overshadowed the rich and savory flavors that should have been the highlight of the meal.
I had higher expectations for my dining experience, and unfortunately, both the beverage and the main course fell short. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving the quality of their...
