I am deeply appalled by my recent dining experience at this Vietnamese restaurant, and I feel compelled to leave a one-star review to share my disgust with others. My party and I ordered two bowls of pho, one bowl of bun rieu, one portion of spring rolls, and a jar of iced tea, and what we encountered was nothing short of a nightmare. The one redeeming quality of this meal was the spring roll; I have to give credit where it's due, they were actually quite tasty. The other food was okay. However, that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. My revulsion reached its peak when I discovered a cockroach floating lifelessly in the jar of iced tea. It's difficult to adequately convey the horror and disgust that washed over me at that moment. Finding such a repulsive creature in a beverage meant for human consumption is beyond unacceptable. It made me question the overall hygiene and cleanliness of the entire establishment. When I reached out to the waitress, there was no apologies given. First thing they did was take the jar away, and never come back. I waited hoping that there might be an apologies or compensation but nothing. They don't even feel bad. Upon chatting with cashier, they offered me to have my $2 tea for free. NOPE. At the end, the ended up giving us 50% discount (after strong conversation, receipt attached as proof). I cannot emphasize enough how this experience has left me scarred and utterly disgusted. It is a shame that a potentially good spring roll was overshadowed by this nightmarish incident. My appetite was completely ruined, and I will never return to this restaurant again. I hope the restaurant will up their basic hygiene for future diner.

For those who are trying Vietnamese for the first time or are unfamiliar with the cuisine, don’t be afraid to order something different at Sinh Phu! They do everything so well. Our families have lived in the area for a long time and we’ve tried many Vietnamese restaurants, as well as having it at our friends’/families’, but Sinh Phu is still a go to favourite for us! All rice dishes are usually served with soup, but Sinh Phu’s side soup comes with meat on the bone as well! We like to get the Bò Lúc Lắc dish (Shaking Beef) and devour the complementary soup alongside it! They serve their noodle dishes in a bowl on a plate—we’ve spoken to the owner and she mentioned this is to ensure hygiene and prevent wait staff fingers from touching the soup bowl/hazard in carrying heavy and hot dishes! My personal favourite is the Bún Thịt Nướng wraps! You can get this dish in a bowl with noodles ($19) or in the version where it’s DIY wraps in rice paper sheets. Their grilled pork is flavoured so well and has that perfect smokey flavour! Their spring rolls are so thick and juicy too.

We came as a group of 3 for lunch and ordered 2 spicy beef noodles (bun bo hue) and Vietnamese steamed rice rolls with pork (banh uot cha lua) The BB hue was extremely disappointing - the soup was dark, bland, and lacked authentic flavour. It didn’t taste anything like the real thing or like other restaurants in the area. We asked for cooked bean sprouts only to go with the noodles, but they brought out a plate of mixed cooked vegetables instead, which made no sense. The Banh uot chat lua was also very poor - all the vegetables were cooked, including the cucumber, bean sprouts, and lettuce. This completely ruined the dish. I’ve eaten here before and used to enjoy their food, but this time was terrible. To make things worse, they charged a 2% credit card fee. Our total bill was $48, and they rounded the merchant fee up to $1.00 like a cash payment. The merchant bank never rounds up payments, so this shouldn’t happen. Even though it’s only a few cents, that’s not right - please check your bill when you tap. Very disappointed and would not recommend this place anymore.

We went down to have lunch today and was not impressed at all. We ordered 3 noodle soups and 2 out of 3 of them had hair! It is absolutely revolting to have someone else's hair in your mouth!!! When I brought it to one of the staff attention for the first time, he apologised and explained that noodle was pre made by an external provider. He also mentioned that that their staff wear hair nets in the kitchen area and he was nice about it. When the second this happened, I asked to see the boss to let them know and the girl waitress wanted to take the bowl away quickly which I had to stop her from doing before I saw the boss. When I spoke to lady (boss), she got angry at me that this happened again and said that we will not charge for this meal..... When I went to pay for the meal she was speaking in a different language (it felt like she was talking about us) and when I got there she would not make eye contact with me and stopped talking to me. When the male staff (who previously spoke to me) saw me he apologised again and said that they will be calling the supplier and taking it up with them. He did not charge me for the two bowls of soup. However, I still had to pay for the other two meals. If I was in the boss's situation I would've not charged my customer due to bad experience (but everyone has different mentality I guess). Please check your food...
