Dined here for the first time ever, with Covid-19 restrictions still in place. The person who seated us at a table was very friendly. The crab broth noodle soup I ordered was good. However, my friend's bun was terribly disappointing as the pork was cold and the sauce that accompanied was bland (had to ask for a fresh bowl which was better). Her husband said his pho was ok but had better elsewhere. I was a little taken aback when my bowl of noodle soup which i was about to dig into was removed from my table as apparently i had been given that incorrectly. The shock was more that it had been sitting on my table for several minutes now but they still gave it to another customer which i felt was a highly questionable move. What really annoyed me though was that a lady started clearing our table while i was still eating, removed my friends' tea cups without asking and also tried to take mine away (i still had a good portion of my meal to get through at this point). She was ready to proceed with spraying down the table whilst i was still eating but i managed to stop her just in time as who wants to have aerosolised cleaning product in their food!! As a result of all the stuff-ups, what had had started off well with 4 star potential, ended with 2 stars. Unfortunately, my friends and I will not be returning to this...
Read moreHuong Xua is another busy Vietnamese eatery in the bustling Canley Heights restaurant strip. Its cuisine follows the northern Vietnamese style cooking, which is apparently milder and softer than the southern style. The Pho here reflects the cooking style, it’s milder and clearer and for some reason comes in a really big bowl. As a personal preference, I prefer a stronger broth but none the less this was still perfectly tasty.
We also ordered the spring rolls, which is deep fried and utterly delicious. I would visit this place again just for these tasty rolls. As a tip, (because I didn’t know this before), you need to wrap the rolls in the herbs it came with and dunk it in the nuoc cham (sauce) before eating it all up.
The last dish we ordered is a jelly fish salad, which for some reason took a long while to prepare. It was however, delicious. If you’re a fan of the smelly durian fruit, get the durian and avocado shake. I would drop by again just for this too! Service was a bit hard to get at times and table sharing is common as with many Vietnamese restaurants.

Read moreWe decided to go for a drive in to Canley Heights having never been here before as we had heard that there was some pretty decent places to eat on the strip.
Having no prior knowledge of where we were going to eat we parked the car down one end of the street and started walking. It was about 11:30 on a Sunday morning and things were beginning to get busy in some of the restaurants so we picked the busiest restaurant on the street and grabbed ourselves one of the last tables available.
Tracking down our waiter we asked for some menus and water and got into picking what we were going to eat. The menu is huge so you might need a little time if it's your first visit.
The food came out fast and like normal we completely and utterly over ordered as the portions are huge. The flavours hear a pretty good and the staff a pretty helpful and all in all we had a fantastic lunch.
Prices are also great with our lunch coming to just under $18 per head and we were absolutely full when we left. This is cheap and cheerful...
