Joined some friends here for what we all thought would be relaxing Sunday evening beers. How wrong we were! Without our knowledge, the afternoon had been declared “Family Day” which of course makes lots of sense to begin with at a brew pub. So as a result, the place was full of self-centred parents who wanted to get drunk while their little screechers ran amok.
We noticed that all beer prices had gone up by $2 compared to pre Covid but we still found some nice drops- hard to find beer that’s not nice though. Around 6:30ish, many of those families finally started to leave so the atmosphere got better significantly and we decided to eat here. I ordered shortly past 7 and was advised that some of my choices were already sold out and that the kitchen is about to close which is ridiculously early to begin with. I asked if I could quickly check with my crew on alternatives to the sold out meals and the lady at the bar said of course while getting us another rounds of drinks. Fearing the worst, I then even asked once again if I could get 5 minutes and still get to order the mains and once again the lady assured me that this was okay.
I went back to our table, we actually decided really quickly that we’d all be sharing the nachos so I went back to the bar in way less than 5 minutes. I was second in row behind some guys ordering beer but that same bartender saw me and yelled out “Kitchen now closed”. I was completely gobsmacked! That’s precisely why I had asked, just a couple of minutes earlier! Why do I even bother trying to communicate with someone who obviously does not give a toss, is totally useless to the customer and then even provides wrong information like that! No sorry, no apologies, nothing from her.
So now we had a starter, quesadillas which were overpriced and horridly over salted, but no mains and had to sort ourselves out elsewhere. And all because of incompetent and non caring staff. I realise that post Covid all the conveniently cheap back packers are missing and that hospitality venues that up charge their prices by full 2 $ per beer can not possible be asked to maybe, just maybe pay their staff a buck or 2 more an hour. But then you get whatever badly trained and careless staff you can get off the street, this is not the first venue I’ve noticed this recently. The thing is- customers notice and we will certainly not be back after being treated this way. And I can only highly recommend that you...
Read moreOne star doesn't even justify what I have experienced today with Connor the Manager. He is despicable man, treated me with no respect today, commanded me to remain standing up infront of him while he gave me a preaching of who he is, as I was about to sit down, relax , & mingle with my friend. I am a 60 year old woman.. We always go to Rocks to catch up with colleagues/business associates, but TODAY, they served me with raw fish, brown rice, quinoa, with salad which I didn't asked for! All I asked Connor was to change my raw fish to a cooked one. But when I tried to explain to Connor that I didn't order raw fish, Connor became aggressive, authoritative, talking on top of my voice, giving me a narcisstic remark and giving me a bad attitude that he is the manager. I told him that he is not my boss, that I am his customer, and I have the right to get what I've ordered. Connor ordered for me not to sit down as I just want to relax because I just finished my business transactions. So i ended up not eating because he did not want to be asked!I sat on the table while my friend was eating. I should've left but didn't want to ruin my catching up with friends, so I kept calm and stayed. To Mr Mark Feathers, who I was told by staff that he is the owner of the premises, I'm just letting u know that this is the second scenario with Connor (one was with my colleague), showing that Connor is in the wrong industry, serving people, that he didn't know how to handle complaints in terms of wrong orders, and he's in a wrong job and needs disciplinary action, if he is working with my Company. Treating your customer down is totally wrong and totally 100% absolutely unacceptable behaviour! Connor needs training to speak appropriately to his customers, as one of my colleague already has had bad experience with him but she never documented the complaints about Connor, never review in writing! Connor, you have got the wrong person today! And I'll fight until I speak to Mr...
Read moreYou know that they will take care of you when they take care of your dog without prompt. A refreshing bowl of ice and water was provided to my pup before even asking. A welcome gesture of kindness and an indicator of the service to be expected! On ordering, the staff member offerd a tast test of the on tap beers/ciders. The Agave Ginger caught my eye and tastebuds. On returning to my table with my drink, I found the taste to be stronger than I expected, a staff member appeared offering me a replacment glass as the first glass had to much sediment, because of this I enjoyed the drink and the experience. I don't know when they noticed the drink issue but the level of service and care was unexpected and quite frankly, refreshing. The chicken snitzel was amazing, well seasond, moist and larger than anticipated. I also ordered a grilled chicken breast on the side which was privided seasond an moist, not the plain chicken I had been expecting. Sydney Brewery Alexandria, you have raised my expectations of all hospitality venues through you excellent service, dedication to the customer experience, and quality of products. I...
