I’ve been in this place twice. It’s a year gap but I equally love both times we were at Takam. My first time was for lunch, chill vibes, we had the Beef Tapa, Okoy and Chicken Inasal. All taste true to our Filipino core panlasa. The chicken inasal is char grilled to perfection, the beef tapa was tender and the okoy for me was the star dish. It’s crispy not greasy it’s like pasko (christmas) in my mouth.. I love how they have a variety of condiments as I am a saw sawan freak!!! My second time was for dinner. And I am truly mind blown as they have elevated their menu to the next level. Overall experience was nothing but stellar. We almost had everything from the menu because we came as a big group. Probably the loudest! Lol! My personal favorite was the Fremantle octopus black garlic adobo -star dish! I don’t normally eat octopus but they nailed this like no other! Toyomansi market fish collar if you are someone who enjoys eating meat from the bones like me this is for you. Flavours of toyo and calamansi is well balance! The Ensalada, mignonette and the spanner crab fried rice are a must! We even ordered a bottle of red wine coz it was that GOOD. It was good food, good company, good vibes and literally Filipino food forward!

Four of us had a casual dinner at Takam for a birthday and were truly blown away by the experience. The set menu was carefully crafted to showcase ingredients that were fresh and in season. The dishes were served in an order with intent to show the interplay between the Spanish colonisation’s influence on Filipino cuisine without making the Filipino flavours less prominent, I found that it was executed masterfully- Takam’s chefs are so talented! Each dish served to us was refined and well presented, the flavours in each dish being complex and yet still achieving balance. I think this is the only experience of its kind in the Filipino food scene in Sydney and is truly on par with hatted restaurants. Lesley explained each dish to us as they were served which we really enjoyed and made us appreciate the dish more. There was so much attention to detail with presentation and aesthetics, the tableware was gorgeous and the service was very warm and friendly. We left quite satisfied, it was a dinner to remember and will be recommending it to our family and friends. Thanks Chefs Aileen, Francis and Lesley

If you’re looking for a Filipino dining experience in Sydney that will make you feel at home, look no further than Takam! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service that instantly sets the tone for an unforgettable meal. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Their Lumpia de Shanghai is a delightful starter—fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavours. The King Prawn Palabok is a masterpiece, with perfectly grilled prawns resting on a bed of rich, flavourful noodles topped with vibrant garnishes that elevate the dish to new heights. And for dessert, the Leche Flan is simply divine, with a silky texture and just the right amount of sweetness to end your meal on a perfect note. The ambiance is cozy yet stylish, creating the perfect setting for enjoying a feast that truly celebrates Filipino cuisine. Whether you’re Filipino or new to the cuisine, you’ll feel an immense sense of pride in every bite. Takam has truly brought the flavours of the Philippines to Sydney with heart and soul. Highly recommended—don’t miss out on these dishes!

Absolutely terrible service. The server for the night made one of the most horrendous and obnoxious comment to me on my order when the table was ordering drinks. A customer should have the right to order what they want from the menu and not get humiliated in front of the entire table for their order. My partner and I weren’t really planning on getting any drinks but since everyone was getting one we thought why not we could share one. Then all of a sudden I guess one of the servers were eavesdropping on us and literally started telling me off for having the audacity to share a drink. It started off as a harmless statement, until she literally just kept on going and going. No one at the table was even laughing in the first place and she just continued on berating me about my choice on until I literally started crying infront of everyone at the table. It was so humiliating and it literally ruined both my night and the night of everyone else’s. She also did not even bother apologising to me?

What type of professional server shames someone for their order to the point where they start crying infront of everyone and doesn’t even apologise to them afterwards? This is definitely not okay and definitely not how a customer should be treated. Absolutely atrocious behaviour for a server of a high end restaurant. I am still in disbelief that this actually happened to me because I actually thought it was common sense to not provoke someone past their breaking point and literally let them cry in front of everyone at their table without...
