the BACKYARD — Restaurant in Sydney

I have visited twice in the last week and have been bitterly disappointed on both occasions.

On Thursday I place orders (2 kids and 2 adults) for mains and then later for dessert. Both orders had been completely forgotten about. No apology was fourth coming.

All tables outside where filled to the top with plates, cups, left over food and rubbish which attracted numerous forms of different wildlife.

On Saturday, I order two meals for my kids. When one of the meals arrived (chicken nuggets) the bowl it was served in was covered in pasta sauce from the previous order. When I politely informed the kitchen, I received no apology, and made to feel like it was my fault the plates where dirty.

As I watched this plate being passed around the chiefs I felt certain the food was just going to be dishes up in a new plate, until I caught the eye of one of the members of staff.

I’ve never gone to Backyard expecting gourmet food. But clean tables, clean plates a smile and when necessary an apology...

Asmita and her team, hands down, catered and attended to all aspects of our birthday party we had there a couple weeks ago for our kids.

Guests have commented that the food we served piping hot, fresh and very tasty. We selected the pizza banquet and everyone left the party very full and satisfied.

They were nice enough to allow our contractors on-site earlier than the booked time to set up and helped rearrange the table settings to cater for the event.

Service was quick, friendly and quite up there.

The actual backyard at the venue is enclosed so kids can roam around and burn off all that energy, food and sugar! Also great space to organise kids entertainment for the party to entertain with games, face painting and balloon modelling.

What a family friendly place. As soon as you walk out the back you can see a big fenced grassy area with toys, basketball hoop, balls and kids running around having fun. The adults all seem relaxed sitting or standing on the deck or grass, drink in hand. The menu is extensive & has offerings to please all. I wasnt expecting much from the food but it was much better then I thought. The chicken schitzel was nicely crumbed and crunchy. The seafood platter for 2 has a good variety of items and flavours, much better then your standard all fried platters. The octopus was tender, the prawns spicy, fish well battered. The smoked meat platter was generous & filling. Not the cheapest but reasonably priced. Note there are 2 prices for members and non members. A lovely family...
