So "billys fresh" has gone, which is a real loss because they've been our local for years and were always good. Being a regular I was just getting to know them a bit more. I was actually shocked having not been in a while to find a new owner. It's hard starting out I'm sure, but the owner was super friendly and for the first time I actually know the name of the owner... Years I went to Billies and was kind of shy to ask everyone's names! Welcome to the neighbourhood and I hope oyu succeed. It may be tough as Billies seemed to have a very wide range of food with kebabs as well, but it's also good to do less and do it well. I had battered fish and chips and the chips were perfect, batter on the fish nice , crispy, not burnt, not soggy. The fish was large, but in honesty a little plain and dry.. that's not to do with the preparation that was A+ but with the fish itself possibly not having a lot of flavour. Billys used to use the pretty standard fish which I think is "shark" - and it was possibly softened with bicarb or something, salted? but even so it had a good flavour and have come to like it. For some reason (maybe covid supplies?) Billies fish had been poor lately and so a change is most welcome. I may need to discover something "tasty" by ordering a fresh option. Being British, "COD" and chips was my thing, but you cannot get "Atlantic Cod" here, you can in Singapore! .
Always a shame to see a long time community member leave, but welcome to the new one and all the best of luck making it a success. I Will definitely be back with a bigger order for the whole family next time. 1st time being a positive experience...
Read moreAlright, listen up. This ain't your average fish and chips spot, this is the FISH and chips spot. Five stars, easy. First off, the fish? Crispy, golden, fried to perfection, and the chips? Man, they're thick, fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside—just like your grandma made 'em… if your grandma was a British culinary genius.
Now, hold up—it gets better. You roll in there and what do you see? A big ol' tub of LEGO. Yeah, LEGOs, baby! So, while you're waiting for your order, you can sit there and build yourself a little mini-empire or a fish fortress. I'm a grown man, but I was in there stacking blocks like I was 8 years old again. It's like they knew fish, chips, and LEGOs was all I ever needed in life. You think you’re just grabbing some food, but you end up having a whole LEGO engineering session.
Plus, the staff? Cool as hell. They’re chill, got your back, and they throw in that extra vinegar like they know how you like it. So yeah, next time you want a solid meal and some time to tap into your inner child, get down to this spot. Ain’t no better combo than fish, chips, and LEGO bricks. Five stars,...
Read moreTried a hamburger, it was cooked very quickly which was great but the lady put sauce on both the upper and lower bun and that ruined the taste for me as BBQ or tomato sauce dose not belong on salad only the meat. I then tried it again a few weeks later on a Sunday a different lady had no idea on how to cook a burger she burnt almost everything I asked for the sauce on top of the meat this time and she argued with me saying that she will put it where she always does because there is no difference this was after she was told by the boss how I ordered it. She placed the meat Pattie on the bottom bun then wanted to add the salad on top absolutely no idea on what she was doing I was left with a burnt taste and a waste of money strike 2 never again. Tried the steak sandwich, the bread was under toasted still soft making it sloppily once all the ingredients was added. It was also left on the bench after been made for 3 min whilst they served other customers seriously these people do not belong working in a takeaway shop and can hardly even cook a...
