This Bistro is one of a few restaurants/cafes on offer at Canterbury Leagues Club in Belmore, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. Its menu offers a wide range of options to choose from at a reasonable price. The food is pretty good as far as Bistros go, depending on what you order but it’s very convenient. On nights when there’s a show happening at the club which usually starts at 8.00pm, it can fill fast and the line to order can get very long. So, it’s always best to get there early, say around 5.30pm to 6.00pm to ensure you can eat and be on time for the show. The staff are friendly and efficient. The Bistro accepts the club’s membership card which gives you a discount which is great. They had a great selection of classic favourites, burgers, shared meals and pub style dishes. The food was nicely presented and in decent portions. 🙂

On my recent visit we had Seafood Plate to share. It consisted of a whole lemon sole, prawns, octopus and squid, served with salad and chips. It was sufficient for the two of us, the deep fried sole was nice and crispy with tender meat. The prawns and lemon pepper squid were nice but the octopus were tasteless and the texture was mushy. 😗 We also ordered Garlic Bread for the starter but the Turkish bread was overly toasted, it has gone stiff and hard, became very difficult to bite, we ended up left half portion on...

I like the atmosphere, the food and I love that as member I get 20% off. The procedure for ordering could be a bit more clear for newcomers as sometimes it’s not obvious that you need to order food from the food counter before you sit down and then coffee/drinks at a separate bar, which can be a bit of a time waster if you don’t realise that. The staff probably get sick of explaining it to newcomers but they do need to be patient and go to the effort to explain this to new customers as the signs aren’t clear so how are people supposed to know.
