On Saturday the 28th of September my friend and I were hoping to have a casual dinner and a glass of wine to watch the NRL semi final. Little did we know what was about to happen. We decided to visit The Clock at half time as we had seen on socials that it had a vibe. Keep in mind that we had driven into Surry Hills as we knew we were only going to have one glass of wine as we were more interested in just watching the footy. As we approached the front of the line the security guard said to my friend “you are showing signs of intoxication”. As I was on my phone I didn’t know what had happened. I asked my friend what was going on and she thought the place was too busy to let anyone in as she hadn’t heard what the security guard said. When I asked the security guard what was happening he said to me “ you’re showing signs of intoxication as well”. I said “ how can I be when I drove here tonight?” And showed him my car keys. He proceeded to say “ How do I know that you drove” as he was ushered us out of the line.

I feel completely racially profiled as both my friend and I are of mediterranean descent and most people in there were Australian. It is appalling that the young 18’s in front of us who clearly had been drinking all day and were wearing minimal clothing were let in but two conservative 24 and 30 year old girls weren’t. You as a premises should be completely appalled of yourselves as I’m sure over half the people in your venue were intoxicated tonight. You are picking on the wrong people and should really train your security guards to do their job properly. I will never return to this place and will be advising people to never visit it as most of my friends are Mediterranean and probably won’t be let in.
