On Saturday the 28th of September my friend and I were hoping to have a casual dinner and a glass of wine to watch the NRL semi final. Little did we know what was about to happen. We decided to visit The Clock at half time as we had seen on socials that it had a vibe. Keep in mind that we had driven into Surry Hills as we knew we were only going to have one glass of wine as we were more interested in just watching the footy. As we approached the front of the line the security guard said to my friend “you are showing signs of intoxication”. As I was on my phone I didn’t know what had happened. I asked my friend what was going on and she thought the place was too busy to let anyone in as she hadn’t heard what the security guard said. When I asked the security guard what was happening he said to me “ you’re showing signs of intoxication as well”. I said “ how can I be when I drove here tonight?” And showed him my car keys. He proceeded to say “ How do I know that you drove” as he was ushered us out of the line.

I feel completely racially profiled as both my friend and I are of mediterranean descent and most people in there were Australian. It is appalling that the young 18’s in front of us who clearly had been drinking all day and were wearing minimal clothing were let in but two conservative 24 and 30 year old girls weren’t. You as a premises should be completely appalled of yourselves as I’m sure over half the people in your venue were intoxicated tonight. You are picking on the wrong people and should really train your security guards to do their job properly. I will never return to this place and will be advising people to never visit it as most of my friends are Mediterranean and probably...

Bar staff were SUPER unprofessional and caused us to have a really unenjoyable time.

They ordered our dinners incorrectly so we ended up with a tiny salad instead of the $30 main meals we paid for. And then we tried to order drinks through the app, after condescendingly being told we should not have tried ordering at the bar.

We then waited 20 mins for these drinks after paying via the app, and upon going to the bar to see if they were coming, the bar staff weren’t even working but goofing around together obviously not checking any drink orders received on the app.

I was told the order “didn’t go through” without anyone bothering to check and was then told they needed to change the keg. I asked if I could just get a different beer and was told no, “better if you stick with what you ordered”.

I mentioned to them our food orders were wrong and was met with a baffled look and a “sorry bout that”. Not really a great response considering their error and lack of professional service meant we were sitting there for ages staring at a salad and waiting for a drink - having forked out almost $70 for nothing.

I then found the Manager to let them know what had happened and mid way through explaining the bar staff appeared with literally half a beer and a bunch of coins to “reimburse me”. So now we had missed out on dinner, been mucked around for ages and found ourselves with half a beer and coin change?!

I never leave a bad review or complain but I feel I need to in hope the same night doesn’t happen again for anyone else and management might seriously review...

I ordered pizza, my buzzer went off I went to the bar, no pizza. I saw a guy walk away with one as I was approaching, and when I asked the staff where it was they said it should have been right at the bar. So I mentioned the guy that walked away with pizza and a staff member went over him. Then a manager approaches me And says that the guy just took the pizza, knew he didn't order it, he thought it looked good and just took it. So she said they were making me a new one and should be out right away. I told the manager where I was sitting ( two booths away from the bar) and she said she would bring it right out to me. More then 15 minuets go by and at this point my friend(local) went up to the bar. He asked them where the second pizza was along with the salad my friend ordered. They said there was a back log on salads(😠really?) and that they think someone AGAIN walked away with my pizza. Ten minuets later someone came to the table with my pizza and finally my friends salad came as well ( total of at least 45 minuets from when we ordered the food). I never saw the manager again, nor did any other staff member come to apologize or offer any compensation or free desert or anything. Maybe because I am from Canada I have higher expectations when it comes to the service industry. This place needs a proper food station where someone is confirming their orders when being picked up. Or at least have the decency to apologize and speak to me once I finally received my order, I would have been happy...

Went here for Anzac day 2024. The 2up outside was really fun and the food stall they had set up outside had great food. (that lamb roll 👌) They were woefully understaffed for the day though: I went to the bar 3 times and queued for 25 minutes, 1 hour, and then 40 minutes each of the times. Twice when I got to the bar I couldn't order what I wanted because they didn't have the glasses/jugs behind the bar... (the tables around the pub were full of abandoned dirty glasses, clearly the staff couldn't keep up with the crowds in collecting / cleaning them) In the time that I was waiting an hour the tills all shut off and the bar staff couldn't serve anyone for 20 minutes or so. (see photo) I've been here before and really liked the pub, the balcony in particular is really nice. The bar staff to be fair were all really friendly when I eventually got to the bar. I really felt sorry for them being so obviously understaffed. Don't go here for Anzac day, unless you don't plan on buying drinks at the bar, or are OK with spending half your time queuing for a drink.

3.6 - Came here with a huge group. We expected pub food but did notice that it was French themed. Friendly service and food took awhile to come but that was fine as we were all chatting away. Friend didn't like her Croque Madam (and gave up after 3 bites) and I found my duck in the Confit duck salad quite dry but the bed of salad was ok. Forgot to ask about the Burger. It gets quite rowdy and crowded later in the nights, but no early dinners because the kitchen does close. Atmosphere ok! Service ok! Food not so great. It's unique for a pub to serve French food so give it a try and see how you feel.

Entering this pub for the first time was quite an experience, following the rules of covid which I respect however my experience led to under informed front house staff discriminating me due to them not being across the two types of medical exemption forms that NSW health states Im allowed to present. To then be told I will be held liable if they were to cop a $10k fine it would fall on me. What does that say about customer service and being across the rules? I never wanted to be in the position of being unfortunate enough to of experienced COVID to then be treated so poorly.
