SHUK Surry Hills — Restaurant in Sydney

Went there on a Sunday brunch time with booking for outside sitting area Patio. We arrived 15 mins early to the booking time and the staff didn’t wanted to serve us. They wouldn’t make an eye contact with you. Finally we stopped a person and told them that we have a booking and they gave us a table inside despite booking for outside. There is no one to even ask a question because staff doesn’t want to talk. Is it an issue of understaffing or training, not sure. We ordered a fair bit of food, which was pretty basic nothing really out of the ordinary. Food was okayish, ambience was nice but zero for customer service. Don’t think will be returning or recommending anyone to visit the place. Only took a picture of the coffee so...

I just bought four iced lattes for myself and my family. By mistake I forgot to order a decaf one so I went back to swap them. I received the rudest attitude from the woman at the till. She told me I had to pay again for a decaf one even though it was only 50c extra for decaf. She took the other coffee off me as well so I ended up paying for 5 coffees and only getting 4. I realise this was my mistake however I thought she could have been a bit more hospitable and maybe only charged me the 50c or let me keep the other coffee. I’m really disappointed as I’m a local and I come here almost every week. I’ll be taking myself to one of the other cafe’s around Surry Hills...

Was there for less than an hour while doing some work. Ordered lunch, then a coffee, then dessert. I was in the middle of ordering a second coffee (via QR code) when I was asked to leave unless I order something else. Of course I understand that people on their laptops spending $5 and staying for 4 hours is an issue. This, however, was not that. I left.

There were multiple free tables, and due to the rain and the fact it was post-lunch rush it wasn’t too busy at all.
