I used to like this hotel a lot and stayed here approx 6 times between 2019 and 2021 and once for even a week straight I liked it so much. However, check in check out service has declined since then. I was informed check in is 2pm and check out is 10am. I arrived from overseas 10am eager to shower and nap to rest off my travels. Was told there was absolutely no way they could have a room ready before possibly maybe 1pm but that check in was 2pm. There was only 3 people in the lobby that could possibly be waiting for a room earlier at the time. I had to move around the city for 3-4hrs to bide time and come back. Incredibly uncomfortable. I couldn't even change my clothes because I'd just be putting new clothes back on my body after sitting in the plane sharing germs with hundreds of strangers, it wouldn't be any cleaner or refreshing. Being deprived of a shower after a flight should be akin to poor customer service. I asked, so, if it takes a 4hr window to prepare rooms, does that mean I can do a late check out after the specified 10am, if they take 4hrs to clean, then I could have a longer rest since they aren't cleaning all rooms at the same time and they said no. It's 2.38pm and I can hear the cleaner unplugging the vacumn cleaner in the hall after just finishing vacumning another area on this floor. Do not select this hotel if you will arrive in Sydney from overseas any time before 3pm or you will have no room available yet or vacumn noise until close to quarter to three. That's not peaceful or restful at all. The only pro so far is they didn't take away the coffee machine but I'm so run ragged I can't even imagine drinking coffee right now. You could think I should have purchased the night before, to enter a room early but the check out time had already elapsed and check in time not...
Read moreSo I have lived in Sydney, and I generally stay in a hotel when I’m here as I can have my own world and comfort, privacy. I stayed at 57 on a whim. My usual hotel was rather expensive for some reason.
So 57 is happily awkward for me. The staff are professional, they were always busy, but always really helpful, when you don’t even think you need it, they are there. They are define it in your face though. They take so much pride in the work they do. I love the coffee on tap in foyer, endless bottles of water, pastries in the morning and loads of space for people in a great vibe!
The elevator is a mini disco, which is my cup of tea. The location is fabulous, great little Pub on the corner with a 5pm-7pm happy hour with an excellent variety of beer and bourbon. Really really cool chilled place for anyone to pop into. Coffee shop two doors down, and then the city hub at a stones throw!
I could park my car out the front, now I did have to top it up but it wasn’t a huge hassle and the hotel does offer secure parking for $40 per 24hours. But I didn’t need it and for me it was a bit more convenient and cheaper to park out the front.
That being all said the room is a little cosy, bed is firm comfy and there’s really not much to it. But it is extremely clean, fresh and well has a little fridge, empty but it’s there. The aircon unit is really perfect, easy to control and not really loud. As most hotels you can hear some noise, and maybe the room is a little small, but it was enough for me, and all in all everything else they do absolutely made up for it!
I do recommend this place, but if you want to stay in your room for your whole stay maybe it’s not for you. I really loved it. I felt so at ease...
Read moreKeen to feel like a criminal? Well hotel 57 is the place for you! My fiance and I made a booking and prepaid for the room but were delayed by at least an hour because the staff decided to be obstinate and obtuse instead of working with us to clear up a minor auto fill error. In my experience with check in the most crucial details are that your credit card details used to pay for the room match the one you present at the front desk at the time of check in.....well at hotel 57 you better make sure that your check in name on your booking confirmation also matches so don't use any auto fill provided by agoda or booking. com. Is a drivers licence enough? What about about if you have the booking code, the receipt, you have the same email and mobile number as they have in their record. Well no folks... You are still entirely stuffed but now you will receive a good dose of attitude like you are a wet rat asking for shelter from the storm. Instead of being transparent and saying "we just need to be cautious so we are going to ring your mobile as a confirmation of identity" no no... Instead we will scurry into our office and phone you in secretly and see if you answer your phone. To top it off, after being incredibly rude and making us late for our meeting, when they finally give us our room keys they say "well hopefully you learnt your lesson." Be glad I was in the car outside because if I had seen you treat my fiance in such a manner I would have slapped those clear rimmed hipster spectacles off your...
