The Grumpy Baker — Restaurant in Sydney

Not worth the price always . I am a local and they usually have good coffees and a great chocolate croissant but today I was very disappointed. I ordered a Sausage roll and a hot chocolate. The Sausage roll tasted like sugar ( yuck ) , it was completely inedible and I gave it to my cat . The hot chocolate ,another disappointment , and I can definitely get a better hot chocolate at the other cafes in Bellevue Rd. Grumpy Baker is more expensive than the other cafes nearby in Bellevue Hill and they also do not have a rewards card for multiple coffees ,like the other cafes. I am happy to pay a little more at Grumpy Baker ,but please at the very least keep all of yr food and beverages to the same standard as yr competitors. I'm a local in Bellevue Hill. My frustration has been growing of late, regarding the waiting times for a coffee. On average these days it's a 10 min wait. I like to have 2 coffees a day. That's 20 minutes out my day. Recently on Sunday 19th, waiting for my 2nd coffee of the day, the wait time exceeded 10 min. I had to ask for my money back as I was at risk of running late for a friend's lunch. Today the price for an almond flat white increased to $5, from $4.50. It's only an 50 cent increase but the increase doesn't reflect the service I would expect paying that price. The breakfast was handed to my wife and I not placed on the dirty table that we could not get cleaned from prior customers. No cutlery provided nor napkins. We had to get up and find them. Poorly trained staff. I had one tiny poached egg placed on two very large pieces of sourdough with avocado. I ate the egg & left 1 and 3/4 sourdough and 9 of 10 tomatoes that were taken straight from the fridge as they were icy cold. Very strange when you are expecting them to be grilled.
