The Heritage Kitchen Garden — Restaurant in Sydney

We went to the Heritage Kitchen Garden today and ordered a sandwich, a bagel and 2 coffees at 11:00 so we could eat something before spending the day at Malabar beach.

At 11:30, after finishing the coffees, we were still waiting for the food, so I checked with the waitress if the food was still coming. She said "there was a lot of food to server today" and despite the place not being nearly full and the tone being unnecessarily sassy, I went back to my table.

At 11:45 I went to check again, this time with a man, and asked for a refund. Apparently the food wasn't coming because someone had made a mistake. Given at that point we had been there for 45m while other people had arrived, been served, had eaten and had left, and given no one seemed to notice or care and that we had already flagged it before just for the waitress to be extra about it and not even check it, I was disappointed when they didn't even offer to cover the coffees and just returned the money for the food that never arrived.

The coffee was ok (even though I ordered large and received regular) and the food from other tables looked nice. The location is nice and sitting outside is quite pleasant. I'm just sorry we had such a bad experience with their service.

Answer to owner's comment: Mate, you have a 4.5 star average - most people are happy with your service. There will be people, like us, who had a very bad experience with you and will also share it. You'll have to own the good and the bad, because both are the result of your hard work and those times when you didn't work that well.

I don't know what to tell you - I've worked in hospitality and if I had left a client waiting 45m, I forgot to check on them and even when they ask me I ignore them, I'd have had to own it, understand that their experience was bad and that their review will probably reflect that. Learn from it and move on, wish you great success...

One star for the gorgeous building and another for the cute decor. Really impressive look.

Unfortunately my order was completely lost, as many people who ordered after me got their meals. My friend who ordered after i did got her food and drink while i sat and waited. I had to ask for my meal. Then another long wait and was given the wrong meal. Start again. Then i had to ask for my dessert.

My food was ok, but i don’t think the protein was included in my smoothie. My friend did not finish her muffin as it was too dry.

This was a painful first impression.

Even standing at counter it takes a long time to even be acknowledged.

Maybe you need more staff if you can’t take care...

Great Cafe! Ambience: The staff here were friendly. Casual, beach vibes with low levels of music comfortably playing in the background. A steady stream of locals coming in for lunch and coffee.

Coffee: WHITE HORSE COFFEE - White Knight Signature blend: Fruity and smooth. Was professionally made by an experienced barista.

Food: I ordered the The Veggie Stack see photos. All ingredients were fresh and artistically assembled. The combination of the seasoning, balsamic glaze, pesto and haloumi made it too salty for my liking. Asking for the pesto on the side might help.
