Having eaten Thai across Sydney for the past 30 years I like to think I know a little bit about Thai. Certainly what I like. Prior to finding Quick Thai the best Thai in Sydney, hands down was Thai on Wok in Glebe. This restaurant/hole in the wall was so insanely good that it's experience far exceeded that of Testuya's and several other high end restaurants that i've been to in Sydney and around the world.
Unfortunately Thai on Wok has sold out and is now a frail shadow of what it used to be. I was truly in despair trying to find a place where i could get my fix of real, fresh, authentic Thai that wasn't covered in MSG or salt.
Then on a recommendation from a sister I tried Quick Thai at North Parramatta.
We normally order the shallow fried Barramundi with Cashews, the Kui Gai Noodles and their fried rice. This food will blow your mind. The Barramundi, which comes with the body of the fish they used (which is tasty but also a subtle submission that they did indeed use a fish) is incredibly tasty.
There a big problem with modern Thai food that mistakes dishes covered in Chilli as some sort of culinary must/requirement. Of course this just ultimately hides poorly cooked and stale/off ingredients by destroy your palate.
Real Thai cooking uses Chillit o augment and improve the flavours of the ingredients. Not to take over and destroy your tounge.
Quick Thai have mastered this. Their sauces are a beautiful mix of Chilli and flavours, especially with those provided in the Ku Gai noodles and the fish.
We have been steadily exploring the other dishes on the menu and although there are some we're not in love with we haven't been disappointed yet.
They are a little pricey but good food of this calibre is hard to find and they are definitely worth the extra price. Just forgo some Macca's for a week or two and go to Quick Thai instead.
NB we order delivery exclusively. We have never eaten there but its a very run of the mill suburban Thai restaurant in terms of decor and noise. Don't expect a fine dining experience and...
Read moreReally disappointed. When the restaurant was newly opened we enjoyed our take away and we were keen to order from them again. Tonight changed that. Our whole barramundi was missing which was the main part of our dinner tonight. The jungle curry we ordered was full of watery sauce, hardly any veggies and my husband and I had to share four prawns that came in it between us that we paid extra for. The lady my husband spoke to on the phone at the restaurant when we complained offered to drive the fish to us, but we were hungry as it was already late and just ate what we had, she still delivered it… not a fresh one but the one that was made over an hour ago. Sadly the sad soggy cold fish that was sitting and waiting for us undelivered will be for our dog tomorrow. Lucky dog to get a $30 fish dinner. Luckily I didn’t have my parents around as planned or I would have been soo embarrassed. You think after this the restaurant would offer you something for the stuff up… but no. We won’t be ordering...
Read moreI called to request a delivery order, they directed me to the website where I couldn't make payment, so I called twice and managed to pay over the phone. I was told the food was cooking and I could expect delivery in 20 mins. I called after 30 mins to be told it had left 10 - 15 mins before. I called back 20 mins later to be told the driver said he was stuck in traffic and would be 10 mins. I called 10 mins after that to be told the driver was 10 mins away. I was at an address that was 7 mins drive. I requested a refund, which they could only do by bank transfer, so I now have to wait up to 24 hours to receive. And I still had 3 small and starving children. Worst customer...
