We went for a family brunch and left feeling very disappointed and will most likely not be returning, which is a shame since this place used to be a favourite spot of ours. But service has been letting us down last few visits.

Firstly our orders could not be fulfilled as the kitchen had run out of salmon, mushrooms and halloumi (on a Sunday?!) 3 of the 5 orders were delivered to the table well before the rest, with enough time between, that they were able to finish eating before the last 2 meals had arrived. Waiting with no word from staff. Found ourselves sourcing our own cutlery and napkins from other tables since we were not provided any.

Eventually notice a staff member run in with a tub of ice cream (I assume for the pancakes we ordered that we were waiting on). Next meal delivered forgetting the side of bacon so again had to wait, therefore husband requested his be put in a takeaway container since the timing was just all over the place and we were now holding up the others we were with. We understand meals arriving at separate times when a cafe is very busy and being a table of 5, but it was very quiet and seemed fully staffed.

With an open kitchen professionalism should be considered, music is already playing throughout the cafe but all we could hear sitting close was the kitchen playing their own loud music off a phone.

The staff as friendly as they were just didn’t seem familiar or confident in service (unsure of what meals were going to what table with us flagging staff to our table when we could see our plates “lost” or when it came to payment getting the orders mistaken for another table or not knowing what was actually on our table. The coffee and food was the only saving grace. It was enjoyable as it usually is but the overall experience was very...

Firstly, I didn't know a place like this could exist in South Penrith (and don't get me wrong - I love Penrith and South Penrith is a quiet little suburbia).

From the outside, you might not think a cute cafe would exist (which you'd see in the inner west or the city) but lo and behold - a little gem. Great and friendly staff, that commercial coffee machine purring which all coffee aficionados can appreciate and you look up and see a dining spot upstairs. Cute setting with the plants.

My burger (the cheeseburger) was great. Photogenic, tasty - and the meat is halal sourced. As for the cross contamination issue - assured that the pig related items and the beef are cooked separately in the kitchen - fantastic.

There was a bit of a wait for the coffee - but I'd expect that on a Saturday (everyone's out). In fact, I was happy for them that they were busy. I was going to go without it this time but one was provided on the house (again - would have been happy to pay - but really appreciate the gesture). Coffee was good too (nice way to cap off a brunch).

Again, wait staff was helpful, barista was nice.

There's parking around the side and up front.

My only suggestion (and this didn't detract from my perfect rating) is to maybe consider waffles or pancakes (but only if there's a demand for it). And that's a nice to have only.

Also had the smoothie (berry) here too....

This place was so wonderful! Located on a quiet street in Penrith this cafe was a slice of heaven.

Walking through the entrance, you see the cafe carries through to an outdoor area filled with sunlight and greenery. The menu has a great selection of sweet and savoury food options as well as great drink options.

My husband and I had the Cowboy Breakfast and Cubano and fries between us and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious they both were! The beef brisket was smoked beautifully with perfect cheesy scrambled eggs, light and fluffy corn bread topped with sour cream and jalapenos, and a side of pickled red onions and smokey BBQ sauce. And the pulled pork sandwich! The amount of times I've ordered this elsewhere and it's come out a soggy, tasteless mess... it was so good to finally have a pulled pork sandwich where the sourdough is perfectly toasted, the pork melts in your mouth, and all the toppings, cheese, pickles, sauces, just all tied together so well!

Definitely somewhere I'll...

I stopped by The Prairie Cafe in Penrith and had such a great experience! I ordered the iced mocha and avocado toast on sourdough — both were absolutely delicious. The coffee was smooth and refreshing, and the avo toast was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The ambience was warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed — a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole visit even better. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
