We just had a 70th birthday party for my wife and me at The Vicar, in the lovely separate function room called ‘The Place’. There were almost 100 of us including grandkids and the venue was ideal for size and comfort and would easily accommodate a bigger group. The Vicar food options were varied and excellent and almost all of it was consumed and we only had a small amount to put in containers to take home afterwards. We had a Mad Hatters’ Tea Party theme and they allowed helium balloons on weights on the tables as well as Blu-tacked decorations on the windows, all of which we removed afterwards. The room also has its own good sized and staffed bar and is fully air conditioned and so was toasty warm on a very cold July day. There was also a stage, which we used for an impromptu performance by a group of 20 lady singing ukulele players among us who put on a 45 minute show just for our benefit. Given The Place is in a separate building to the main hotel we didn’t disturb the other patrons. We could use the PA system with a provided mic and also the projector for the mandatory photo show of the now 70 year olds, right back to their childhoods. All the staff were very helpful and the afternoon festivities ended all too quickly with the stragglers hanging around to help us remove our decorations. We would highly recommend this venue and the hotel in general, which we have been patronising regularly for almost 2 years now, right back to the end of Covid restrictions. In that time the menu has increased in options and improved overall under the leadership of a new chef. The singing ukelists rehearse at a members’ home every two weeks and The Vicar welcomes 10 of the husbands at the same time who play cards from 10am - 2pm with lunch at about 12.00. Well done The Vicar!

Plenty of parking and they really managed to make the entire place very accessibility friendly (only one set of stairs in the entire joint to get up to some pool tables). Very clean. The food was very good. The cauliflower bites were an absolute stand out, crunchy and flavourful breadcrumbs and not too oily. I ordered the cheeseburger and was a bit surprised when it came out because it looks very underwhelming (see photos) but the flavour and bun quality were outstanding). My partner had a steak with salad and chips. The steak was expertly cooked but the salad was really simple: a bit of rocket with balsamic vinegar and a tiny shaving of Parmesan. Not a single shred of tomato or onion or even a slice of cucumber. The chips were also tiny, like there were plenty of them but they were all about 2cm long. So basically good food but not perfect by any means. The cocktail was expertly made and well balanced. I went at around 4pm on a Friday and didn’t have any unreasonable waits for food or drinks. The menu isn’t actually pricey when you look at the local competitors like The Duke. I did find the music was a touch too loud, even at 4pm on a weekday.

We came here for a meal recently with our parents. The music in the public bar was so loud it was hard to understand each other. The service was average at best because it feels always understaffed. The Menu is limited and both sides of the Vicar are now serving the same pub food, which is a bit disappointing. The pub used to have food choices, and distinct areas for the eating of said choices. Now it’s just all bland and the same. I ordered a chicken Parmigiana which took some time to arrive, and a couple of bites in I discovered was severely burned on the bottom, skilfully hidden by the chefs in the hope that I wouldn’t notice. The kitchen remade my chicken but served it with only a tiny bit of ham, cheese and sauce on the second round, and the same chips. Totally unacceptable. The rest of the family enjoyed their food, but mind was rather disappointing and this place has a lot of potential if the kitchen expands back to its original form and menu.

Today was my 85th birthday and my family booked this place for lunch, we were a table of 7 adults. We are extremely disappointed for the following reasons: Food did not come on time. We had 2 meals first and then had to wait for about 10 minutes before the next few and some food never arrived. One person ordered onion rings and olives and it never came. We went to tell the bartender after everyone had almost finished their meal, as no wait staff even made any eye contact. They just whiz past you ignoring you and do not ask if you need anything. The bartender said he will follow up, but nothing came of it. Finally I told him after waiting another 30 mins that still the onion rings and olives did not arrive and finally told him to refund as everyone had finished eating. There was no apology offered, this person left without eating. One person ordered a scotch fillet steak costing about $40 and the comment was that it was the worst steak they’ve ever had. It was so chewy and the peppercorn sauce was so salty, it was inedible. On top of that the potato gratin served with the steak was undercooked with some potato raw. We gave this feedback to the bartender and they ordered to give us a refund which we declined. One person ordered a main dish called slow cooked potato which was actually a side dish, the same as what was served with the steak, with a $29 price tag! They only added some spinach and mushroom on top. You cannot expect such a small portion to be served as a main dish. Again the potato was very undercooked. We saw a staff who was serving guests wearing a high viz orange jacket. It did not seem appropriate. Aren’t they supposed to dress professionally in such an expensive venue? Several people at our table felt that it doesn’t look very hygienic. We are so disappointed to see the quality go down hill. We have been to this restaurant several times & although initially some teething issues were there, the food was always lovely .

Whoever owns this place please take charge as the venue is so beautifully done but all the best decor will not bring customers back if the food is not right, overpriced and the customer service is absolutely awful. It needs to be managed properly as Dural and surrounding suburbs have plenty of fantastic choices offering far better service and...

I recently visited The Vicar and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious.

What really stood out, however, was the exceptional customer service provided by staff member Tahlee. She greeted us warmly upon arrival and guided us through the menu with great enthusiasm and knowledge. Her recommendations were spot-on, and we were impressed by her attention to detail and the care she took to ensure our dining experience was memorable.

The food itself was outstanding. We started with the woodfired garlic bread, which lead straight into our main. I had the barramundi, which was cooked to perfection and served with broccolini and potato gratins. My dining partner had the steak, which was also cooked to their liking and accompanied by a delicious red wine reduction.

Throughout our meal, Tahlee provided exceptional customer service, checking on us regularly and ensuring that we had everything we needed. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, including the wine list, and was able to make recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal.

The dessert menu was equally impressive, and Tahlee recommended the Gelato, which was rich and creamy, turning out to be exactly what I needed.

Overall, our dining experience at The Vicar was truly exceptional. The food was outstanding, and the customer service provided by Tahlee was truly exceptional. Her attention to detail and knowledge of the menu truly made our experience memorable, and we will definitely be returning in the future. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience, look no further...
