UPDATE: Sadly, Tropicana has gone down hill again after its new renovations! The food that we use to go there for (see pictures below) is no longer on the menu. Why would you take those corn fritters off? I ordered pizza on three occasions and had to cancel once because it never arrived at our table after half an hour of waiting. Unfortunately, Pizzas take too long to arrive. Oh well, I’ll have to find a new place to indulge my breakfast and lunch cravings! 🙁 OLD REVIEW I’ve been coming here for over thirty years. The place went downhill a few years ago but is now under new management. The food is delicious and the Illy coffee just hits the spot! The prices are the best value in Sydney. Food presentation is excellent. Staff very helpful and polite. A pleasure to dine back at Tropicana!

Have been coming to this Cafe for almost two years for a coffee, so a review was long overdue. The coffee is great, the food is good (but not spicy enough for me), but the best part is the welcoming staff and owners. They make you feel so welcome that you would want to return again and again. :) Also, it opens pretty early in the morning, so that's a plus for anybody looking for a caffeine dose to get up and running 😊

There is always a very good consistent coffee here (illy brand) and the food is served with generous portions and very flavoursome style with fresh ingredients. The menu has a wide range of Italian favourites (pasta shown), Aussie variations and certainly some of the best pastries and cakes in the Potts Point area.

HORRID What a complete disaster this place is. Firstly you have to line up to give your order, then when you get to the till you are met by a young lady who obviously does not want to be there as she has the biggest scowl on her face. Not the most pleasant thing to see first thing in the morning, she had a very heavy accent so I spoke clearly and slowly and held three fingers up when I ordered three scrambled eggs and a few sides and coffees. Only one order arrived as she obviously does not know the meaning of three! As we waited for the rest of our order to arrive, a mix up of some sort occurred in the kitchen as they kept pumping out food and the floor staff had no idea where this food was meant to go. Not a smile, not a thank you, just bad service, and the food it’s self in very ordinary. Some great cafes in this Street do do yourself a favour and cross the road and go to Latteria or Infinity, you will get good service with a smile and the food is far...

We’ve been coming to Tropicana for many years, and on our return to Sydney it felt so special to drop back in. This cafĂ© holds so many great memories—sharing early mornings with the regular crowd, sitting on milk crates outside, enjoying that very first coffee of the day on Victoria Street. Some of our dear friends are no longer with us, yet the memories of those conversations live on, and somehow their spirit still feels alive here. Since the new owner has brought it back to its original spirit (est. 1980), the dĂ©cor beautifully blends its retro charm with modern touches. They serve Illy coffee, staying true to the café’s tradition of excellent coffee on Victoria Street. The food is delicious, the service has always been outstanding, and it’s heartwarming to see the familiar regulars still here after all these years. Tropicana remains an institution—timeless, welcoming, and always...

Tropicana’s has been an iconic place to go to around the Darlinghurst area. One of my favourites many many years. They recently had a renovation. I decided to come as soon as it was reopened. Unfortunately the service and food quality had gone with the old furniture. I ordered pasta which took for ever to be served and it was undercooked. I thought I’d give them another chance. Today was my last time. I ordered 2 Caesar Salads and only one turned up. I wasn’t happy so i approached the person in charge. I wasn’t going to wait another 30 mins for my friends salad. Unfortunately they now have young staff that obviously hasn’t had much experience with handling complaints. I got my money back but not without a confrontation. I won’t be back again and it’s disappointing!! English...
