4.6/5*
The Feed punchers went to the only Yemeni restaurant in Sydney, Yemendi, located in Beverley Hills. It is an authentic, family friendly, homely restaurant, which feels comfortable and safe.
-To start off, they brought out a complimentary broth, which was warm and salty with a predominant fatty-bone-marrow taste from lamb bones.
-The rice had a beautifully smoky taste, also having strong notes of cumin, cinnamon, cardamom and pepper. The restaurant owner generously, kept topping up our rice, saying that we can have as much as we want, on the house.
-The Mendi lamb was a mouthwatering delight. Struggling to hold itself together, it would fall off the bone each time we picked it up. Carrying flavours of cumin and coriander, the deep layers of flavour oozed throughout the tender meat.
Perfectly tender, the lamb Haneeth continued to impress. Slow cooked to perfection and wrapped in foil, each bite left a perfect peppery taste on the palate. It was incredibly moist, succulent and was bathing in its own juices.
The Fahsa lamb carried a different taste to the other lamb dishes. It Contained a more tomato and chilli base, essentially being served as a stew. It was accompanied by some freshly made Mulawah bread, which successfully soaked up all of the aromatic sauce.
-The Yemeni prawn curry Offered a beautiful- warm-blend of perfectly cooked prawns, spicy cinnamon, turmeric, garlic and tomatoes. It was served in a sizzling stone pot, which helped catalyse smokey and charred elements. It was also perfectly accompanied by some Mulawah bread.
-The Mendi smoked chicken was a simple yet elegant, slow-cooked half chicken, which possessed a light saffron flavour. It was curated through hours of smoke, love and precision. It was delicate, succulent and effortlessly fell off of the bone.
-To top off this amazing feed, we had a pot of Yemeni spiced, Adeni tea. It had strong tastes of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves, Similar to a chai.
Overall, it was a very authentic, tasty and enjoyable feed....

Read moreI came to Yemendi with my family for the first time on tuesday and was there the same time as the rude lady below and i witnessed how rude and disrespectful her and her family were treating the waitress. I was a walk in customer too and they still accommodated my family to a table and they treated all customers with respect despite it being busy. I was so appreciative that they gave us a table with no reservation so you should too. The fact that you want to blame it on food poisoning is disgraceful! If that was the case my family and I would of had the same like everybody else that day! You should tell the real side of the story before posting slander, especially coming from a “chef”. If the food really deserves a below zero then why did you ask for takeaway containers to take home lol. As one mum to another your attitude was a below 0. What a shame to see how you took time from your day to send such hate. I would stay away from your business if this is how you deal with human beings. Does’t seem professional at all coming from a “chef”.
I also came from Walla Abu Eid and am thankful for showing us this hidden gem as she only recommend truly good places to try.
Anyways I had a lovely experience at Yemendi, the food was 10/10 and the meat was juicy and succulent. Will be coming back...
