Tonight I got takeaway, which I arrived home with about 20mins ago. Well it looked great! Really crispy chips and a massive burger. Unpacking it, of course I had to have a quick chip but.... no, NO.... this is terrible....!! I tried another, dug down hoping that maybe it was just the ones on the top that were affected. Sadly not, they were all the same. All completely inedible because whoever had packed them had clearly lost control of the salt container and tipped on what seemed like half a kilo of the stuff... My mouth was burning.... BUT i still had the burger - or so i thought. Unfortunately this was also completely inedible, it was SO bitter! I picked off the lid to see if I could see why, which was immediately evident. What looked as though it should have been a lovely burger was ruined because both top and bottom were black - it had been burnt to a crisp. I picked at a couple of bits of fried onion, which were OK. The rest, $12.50-worth of food went straight in the bin. What a waste. Disappointed and fed up (and hungry), I decided to do something I have never done before: i.e. write this review. My advice to anyone who, like me, doesn't like a ton of salt on their food or blackened burger, would be to make it very clear, when they order, that they don't want added salt and the burger should be lightly charred...
Read moreIt really is a Yum Burger! Having lived in Five Dock for a while, I finally took a chance on this little jem after walking past it at least one hundred times. And boy am I happy I did - definitely the best beef burger on the strip and in the surrounding suburbs.
This little burger bar may have an innocuous and strange vibe, but I reckon it pucnches well above its weight. Somewhere between a Betty’s burger and whopper (because flame grilled patty). It’s got the right oiliness to crunch ratio, so it doesn’t feel like it’s going to give you a heart attack but also doesn’t feel like a salad. Ingredients are fresh, kitchen is clean, seasoning is not too hectic, and chips are pretty good too.
The reasons it misses a perfect 5 for me are completely subjective. 1) Bun, I would have liked something softer like a potato bun; 2) Cheese, a punchier version of jack would be lit. Having said that, what has been used is not bad by any means - still an extremely good local burger 👍
If you are like me, and have been struggling or underwhelmed with the burgers on GNR, don’t be a vibe snob and give this place a run. The owner is pretty OG too, good on him for giving it a punt. Will god...
Read moreSo glad we found this burger place owned, operated and cooked by a lovely gentleman, humble, with genuine service. Always like to support small family businesses. He has been in the area for years.
Great prices. Fluffy chunky hot chips perfectly cooked, and as others say, seasoned well, not too much or too little salt.
Added bonus was the chargrilled beef patty. Juicy and seared.
Bun is a fresh brioche style. A whole piece of butter lettuce, instead of the tasteless shredded ice berg lettuce. Ripe tomato. You have a delicious good old gourmet beef hamburger.
Heavily loaded burgers can be popular, though sometimes you want just a few flavours.
Very clean kitchen. Will definitely return to try the rest...
