WELCOME BACK Bar Piccolino…the New Managers have truly made it their own…bringing a fresh new modern Italian style to the menu complimenting the Five Dock Italian vibe.
The waiter (Joe) who remembered us and picked up that my husband had dietary needs and asked all the right questions offering alternatives not compromising my husband’s selection. My husband ordered the Club Sandwich.
With me, I was tossing up what I wanted. With just a few questions from the waiter (Joe) I ordered the Caesar Salad…adding grilled chicken, an extra boiled egg (yes for extra protein 🙌☺️) and cracked pepper.. The waiter (because he remembered us) asked if I wanted the chilli oil…and without hesitation I said yes. I drizzled their chilli flake oil on top.
Let me tell you this…..this was quickest my husband and I have been during a meal and we’re Italian 😆😆😆. The food wasn’t just amazing but it hit every single food note in our brain and stomachs 🤤🤤🤤. My husband completely demolished his meal while I went through every crunch of lettuce 🥬, delicious grilled chicken, crispy bacon crisps 🥓, perfect cooked boiled egg, the light crunch of the croutons which was perfect as they weren’t hard & dried, the perfect coating of Caesar dressing the didn’t hide all the individual taste of my salad and of course the chilli flake oil which warmed my tummy while eating 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
To top off our end of meals the owner’s wife Madellina let us know they were trialling out some new desserts - which we couldn’t say no to 😉😆…a Choc Maltese Brownie and a Choc Biscoff Brownie. My husband and I again demolished everything…even though we were so full. The coffee’s were a perfect accompaniment ☕️.
With the Jacaranda tree is still in bloom, the breeze being perfect, the umbrella shades up and the sun shining making the atmosphere cozy…truly wanted to sit there all day.
Very Well Done Bar Piccolino Five Dock 🇮🇹 🙌 🇮🇹 🫶 🇮🇹 👏…you made us both feel welcomed, not rushed to hurry us away & full on the truly amazing/delicious flavours…..A Massive CONGRATULATIONS to the chef (Gianni) who is also the Owner and his amazing kitchen staff…the waiter (Joe), Barrister (Susana) and the amazing presentation from Madellina for our desserts
Cannot wait to come back and try the other menu options. I’ll be posting...
Read moreMy first visit to this Cafe with the new management wasn't so good, but I decided to give them another try today. I sat down at an outside table, the waiter didn't notice me & was clearing a table so I got up & got a menu off the trolley. More patrons then arrived & they too got up & got their own menus. Finally the waiter notices he has customers, so he walks straight past me and I wait a long time while he takes the other patrons orders who arrived after me. I see another staff member inside so I go in to the counter & wait. The same waiter comes in looking at his tablet & someone yells from the kitchen - there's a cappuccino there. I'm still standing at the counter & the same waiter goes to the coffee machine less th one meter away from me & proceeds to make the coffee. I say - oh well I'll just go to another Cafe & the waiter finally notices me & watches me walk back outside, collect my things and walk away. Not happy Jan! I walked around the corner to Appetite Cafe & I had a menu and a chilled caraf of water on my...
Read moreSadly, despite great food, I cannot give this cafe a rating beyond 3 (rounded up). We have been twice, and both times felt ignored, even worse, uncomfortable. The first time, after sitting down, we were left for about 20 minutes while the owner chatted with friends. Eventually she realised, when my beady eyes must have pierced her back, and apologised, saying 'I got caught up' (no, you were chatting with a friend!). Anyway, the food was good, so we tried again. This time, some sort of crisis was occupying both owners, in view and earshot of the cafe. We were taken care of by a little girl, who did a splendid job; but - no acknowedgement by the owners, even after the crisis seemed to be over. The little girl sat inside on her tablet, the woman sat at a distant table, the man was at the counter, frowning... This is not a good look. Perhaps we are harsh, criticising the service when there was clearly something wrong involving a lengthy phone call, but to be ignored twice was too much. We...
