Traditional country style pub, open evenings until at least 10pm so one of the few places in the area to have a dine-in dinner. Won't win any awards for decor, but has large serves, good food, friendly staff. There is a cafe/restaurant, takeaway food, bottle shop, outdoor eating area with one of the only water glimpses available in an eatery in Cygnet. Your evening destination in Cygnet during the early part of the week!

For years I’ve hankered after a scallop pie but have never been able to find a gluten-free version. Today whilst strolling around Cygnet I was thrilled to spot a sign advertising GF Scallop Pies at the Commercial Hotel. I immediately went in and was able to pick up a hot take away pie. It was delicious and packed with scallops, the curry sauce not overpowering either. The GF pastry was excellent too. Fantastic find 😍

It's a shame that there is no zero star otherwise I would go for it. This pub obviously doesn't want customers to dine here. In an empty restaurant we tried to order a steak sandwich and hamburger eating in. Only to be very rudely told that these were only available for take away. We left with very uncomfortable. Misleading advertising!!!! Definitely not recommended.

We arrived in Cygnet mid week and were looking for a dinner option. Not many in Cygnet mid week but were advised to try the "bottom pub". A good call. The pub is very old fashioned which makes a great change from some of the sterile trendy bars most of us go to. The Public Bar and the Lounge Bar are like the ones I went into with my father 40 years ago. Staff were very friendly and we had two very good pub meals for dinner. The beer was great and was served in THE best beer glasses in Australia. The rails lline the glass all the way to the bottom - brilliant! The trendy craft beer bars could learn alot about how to treat a beer from the...

Went here on 28/12/2022 for some food with the restaurant being decently full. We went in and waited 5 minutes to be served which was fine. Sat down outside and the staff struggled to open and close the door when carrying food (was scared they would honestly drop something). Ended up moving inside once a table opened up which was a nice environment. Food took 45 minutes to come out (was a parmi and a burger), for what it was definitely wasn’t worth the wait. Staff were very nice and apologetic towards the wait which was good. Obviously needs more staff in kitchen and out front as tables were dirty and food took forever. good big portion for...

Rod & the crew are great value. Thanks so much for squeezing our dinner orders in (along with about 5 other people) even though you were trying to close the kitchen. As a vegetarian I was relieved to see a mushroom & haloumi burger on the menu, after having had so many bland risottos at other pubs - so often the only vego option. The pub has a long and interesting history, which you can read about in a booklet at the bar. The staff were great, the food was delicious and I’d highly recommend stopping by for a beer and checking out the old photos that adorn the walls. Thanks Rod, we’ll definitely be back next time we’re...
