Visited Smelters as a group of 6 on the 20th of November 2019. Restaurant looked inviting, yet was almost empty, only 2 more tables were occupied. Drinks arrived fast, unfortunately we had to wait though for the food for almost an hour! The waitress seemed to be busy with all sorts of duties and didn't realise that our food was getting cold in the kitchen! Despite the fact, that the waitress appeared to be very friendly, there was some lack of confidence apparent! Two of us ordered the Steak & Lamb Combination; one medium rare and one rare. My Sirloin was cooked more like medium, certainly not rare; but the other Sirloin ordered medium rare was totally "'cremated'' and reminded more of a peace of charcoal than a steak!! I am really puzzled how a chef even could put such a failure on to a plate, thinking he would get away with it! Since we had to wait such a long time for our meals, we had no intention to ask for the replacement of the Steaks as we had lost hope the chef would do a better job the second time round! The meals of the reminders of the group were acceptable but not remarkable. The very salty Halloumi used in one of the dishes wasn't pleasant. The night before we had dinner at the Empire Hotel in Queenstown, food arrived fast and the Steaks were all cooked as ordered, all even at a slightly lower price; so if you like a nice Steak, this would be the...

This is the restaurant at the Silver Hills Motel. They have a large indoor seating area and bar area and serve up a wide range of Aussie dishes from 5.30pm to 8pm nightly (closed on Sundays).

We had dinner here during a recent stay in Queenstown and found our meal to be ok. Lamb shank was a bit dry and slightly chewy meat, it was also smothered in gravy. Veg and potato was ok. Pork ribs were better, meat tender, succulent and with good flavour.

Service was very slow on the evening. Meal portions were generous, prices felt a bit high for the quality of what was being served. Liked the casual, relaxed environs. Would consider eating here again but would look around for other...

Had high hopes for a decent hamburger and chips but was dissatisfied. Burger was over cooked, dry and flavorless. I’m guessing that’s why it comes with BBQ sauce, cheese, sautĆ©ed onions, tomato lettuce and 3 slices of pickled beets. The chips were undercooked. Service was almost flawless however after a quick how’s everything we never saw them again. The reason I gave 1 star for atmosphere is b/c there was a family of about 6 adults with 4 kids who were left to run wild & screaming the whole time we were there. One was in diapers and in a to small dirty T shirt. The place actually has white table cloths and table service. The two other tables of adults were...

Waited 40 mins for our food to arrive (great taste and takeaway containers were available), the lemon lime and bitters were watered down when we got a second set of drinks, the place seems to attract locals and people who are staying at nearby motels albeit a fair amount with screaming kids or adults who play loud videos while eating their meals, if you're looking for a drink (e.g whisky) you'll have to pay the price of a bottle for a shot glass amount

Service was slow with only 1 waitress attending to ever customer but she was attentive, friendly and warm. Loved the food. Slow wait but generous portions and very tasty. Had dinner there 2 nights. I especially thought my salmon was very well cooked. Never had salmon done so well before. Hubby thought steak was chewy but my daughter and I enjoyed it! Plenty of parking around.
