My wife and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We are always a little hesitant in trying a new place that we have not eaten at before, however it was post a doctors appointment and there are not many options in Beaconsfield.
The menu looked interesting so we decided on what we wanted and placed our order. As we could not easily decide on entrées, we selected the mixed veg entrée plate to start. For mains I had the Chicken Palak and my wife wanted something that was not going to be too sweet. Most things on the menu had some sweetness to them, so the chef offered to make her a Rogan Josh with chicken which we were assured would be less sweet and satisfy her taste.
Its not very often that a chef will accommodate preferences that are not on the menu, so we were very impressed by this offer.
The entrées arrived, and I have to say they were some of the best I have had outside of genuine Indian street food from Delhi or Mumbai. Melt in your mouth and perfect level of spice.
Mains arrived and were equally as good. Both chicken dishes were excellent, as was the Naan bread (extra crispy on request).
Good serving sizes and easily satisfied our hunger, with even enough to take home for the next days lunch.
Having travelled to India 9 or so times over the past 10 years and been spoilt with genuine Indian food, I have to say that Tassie Dhaba is pretty much the best you are going to get outside of being in India itself.
Had a great chat with the owner as well. Overall it was an awesome dinner, and we will definitely be back as often as we can manage, as it is about 75 minutes drive from home for us.
Keep up the great work, and cannot wait to see what additions you add to the menu over...
Read moreParty of 7 Very disappointed, Food was just warm, To many dishes to mention the dissatisfaction of flavour, quality and tempurature. 1 example half Tandoor chicken cooked on bone was deff not half just pieces with a drum stick that had no meat on it. Although the flavour was nice the size was tiny My husband is a huge fan of tandoori chicken and he could have ordered 3 of these to make it half chicken size the bones that were in a piece where needle like.
Keema naan had to scrape the Keema out as it had a weird taste.
Chefs signature lamb curry was almost black in colour tasteless full of big chunks of capsicum hardly any lamb, not eaten.
Spinach and mushroom curry couldn't find no mushrooms
To many dishes to mention But they gave us a mint sauce to go with the popadums in the flat small ramikin and charged us $4.90
Never replaced knife and forks after entrees and when asked they were not given to us.
The sparkling mineral water at $5.90 was Woolworths brand in the small plastic bottles at Woolworths 20pack for $12.50 I didn't think U could resell this ? Still massive mark up plus they never gave U the bottle
Please note we are a family from Punjab so know our food pretty well
I cant go on there to much to mention No doubt the reply from the establishment shall be all in there defence Please save your $$$$$ there is a great place on seaport give that a try. I can't post photos or I would and of the bill so you can see for yourself I would have been more than happy had the food and service been better the guy was nice but the girls did not have a clue...
Read moreThis is the fourth time my wife and I have visited this restaurant. We always order the same meals when visiting a new place for 2 reasons. 1. We really like the meals and 2. It gives us a chance to see how this new restaurant prepares the dishes. Chicken Korma and Butter Chicken. You are quickly met with a huge welcoming smile and ushered to your table. Complimentary ice cold water and Pappadums were on the table within one minute. A very pleasant young lady took our order and welcomed us back like we were family. Hot plates were placed on the table ready to receive the food being cooked in the kitchen, the smell of the food coming from the kitchen got our taste buds ready yet again.
The meals came out of the kitchen piping hot with Coriander Rice and a home made Naan bread to die for. My Butter Chicken was magnificent and my wife's Korma was equally as tasty. The wine was icy cold and my Lemon-Lime & Bitters was made fresh and not poured out of a schweppes cola bottle, it too was served ice cold in a lovely glass tankard. The meals were nothing short of some of the most authentic Indian style food I have ever had the good fortune to taste. I had to remind myself NOT to shovel the food but to take my time and enjoy every spoon full. If you find yourself in or near Beaconsfield do yourself a huge favour and pop in to the Tassie Dhaba for a...
