It’s rare that we give neutral or even negative feedback on a place we visited.
This will unfortunately be the case for the Twin City Hotel (14 Hervey Range Rd, Thuringowa Central – Townsville - Queensland).
It's a large structure (housed in a very well-designed hangar), with a huge car park, a games room (pokies), a lounge, a pub, and of course a restaurant.
We were there on Monday the 13th for a dinner for 4 people.
It's a self-service buffet with decent prices displayed at the entrance, and soft drinks are unlimited. Other drinks (beer, wine, etc.) are chargeable, but I find the prices a little high, certainly to increase the lower margin on food.
The food is not extraordinary, and could do with a little more refinement, but that is certainly why the price. Should we really prolong the race for the sale price and therefore the cost price which has been raging in Townsville for some time? This policy seems to drag quality down.
The evening, we were there, the room was full (again certainly thanks to the price), and the turnover was well managed by the staff because the vacated tables were immediately cleaned and offered.
Note1 - Pay attention to the dishes. Even if they were all well stocked, he would have to pay attention to the tricks of the dishes that the careless customers dirty without having to compete with the next customers. It's not clear.
Note 2 – Cleanliness. The fairly dark carpet is often stained with food (always from the same unscrupulous customers) which remains on the floor for a little too long, before someone from the staff does the cleaning.
Note 3 – Of the four people there, two were unwell all night, even though they didn't eat the same thing.
Note 4 – The bar. Possibly provide additional help at the bar, because the person who was there was not very energetic and seemed to suffer from the fact that she was in this position. Is this a punishment for the Twin?
Note 5 – For customers. Stop filling your plate and leaving uneaten food that will end up in the trash. It's better to load your plate less and return to it more often.
Unfortunately, and only if the price attracts you, I do not recommend a restaurant. Choose other restaurants that will offer you more interesting food and more attractive locations for almost...
Read moreWould give 10 stars if I could.. Love love LOVE this place. My husband and i went and had the buffet. Walked in and yes there is a line, (but moves quickly enough) but since it was just the 2 of us we did get asked by a very well mannered, very well spoken young man named Will to goto the front of the line and tell them the table number. Beautiful customer service Will 5 stars before we even walked in. 🌟🌟
They seat you accordingly which is great to see, staff where amazing and accommodate all your needs. There is so much food to choose from, even a sushi train.
